I don't see why that wouldn't work. Let me try it on a line of it's own.

I don't know why it's not working other than maybe it's not setup for this subforum.

That is both amusing (as this is the Play by Post forum) and sort of sad (as this is the Play by Post forum).

Well, here's hoping the mighty Admin or someone up in Control can get it to work here.

I don't understand why it works in your quote of my post, but not in my post itself. I can see the results in the quote. Let me log out and see if I can see it when I log back in.

EDIT: It's quirky alright. Of the two dice rolls, it only gave me results for one roll, and only when you quoted my post. I'll mess with this some more.

Yeah, I noticed that as soon as I posted. Wish I could help you, but I have no idea why it did that. As was stated, it seems twitchy.

Could it be because you are Mod?

EDIT: For the Players, your Referee is now going to attempt a nap before going to work tonight, so don't expect to see any response for the day. Sorry, but the mobile device is out of plan for another week so I can't do my Refereeing from work like normal. However, I suspect that come Sunday I will have lots of stuff to do and will try and get things back up and running.

RTFM!!!

You NEVER EVER put [roll0] in your own posts. It stops looking for new rolls once it finds that, and looks for the values in the database.

It replaces your roll codes with [roll0],[roll1], etc.

You cannot quote rolls - the roll_ text is linked directly to whichever post it's in, NOT to the original post. And without a couple hundred dollars for the add-ons that can do that (note: not an option until the board is paying its own way), what we got is what we got.

[roll]2d6[/roll] turns into [roll0]: (2d6)[7]

[roll]2d6[/roll] turns into [roll1]: (2d6)[7]

[roll]2d6[/roll] turns into [roll2]: (2d6)[9]

Note that one can't edit in new rolls, nor edit out old ones. If you quote it, it won't work:

But now, when I add some more rolls

[roll]10d2[/roll] turns into [roll0]: (10d2)[15]

[roll]10d3[/roll] turns into [roll1]: (10d3)[26]

notice what happens inside the quote...

/ker-snip/
I did RTFM, damnit! I am not a bloody complete noob. I always read the manual. In fact I had tabs open with the instructions (the FAQ and the Die Roller thread) which I checked while I did the very first test to check I was doing it right. The [noparse] bit came later when I was trying to explain what had happened.

So, I will trade you, you read my posts and not yell at me and I will keep reading the manual and telling you when something is not working as advertised. (Please don't give me a ticket for this, but I don't take well to being yelled at for doing the correct thing. On the other hand if I do mess up then we are at a place where yelling may be appropriate.)

As for the [roll0] that is what I got when I posted my test here the first time it posted. All the other stuff, including the [noparse] came after it failed on me. Honestly I have no idea why it gave me a [roll0] when I had put in the basic roll 2d6.

Anyway, as I said before I should really being sleeping now, so I won't be on till Saturday at the earliest.

Crap, now I have a question.

Does Previewing a post do anything to mess things up, because I almost always to that too and I did preview the post before I posted it. If so then perhaps that could be added to the instructions.

That's odd, in the original post the rolls did work, but in Aramis's quote they didn't. But, when Magnus quoted his own post, they did work.

Only because he had new rolls in the post...

But the rolls in his quote were the NEW rolls, not the OLD rolls.
