Paizo also sells direct, and also sells through at least two other sellers... plus they have huge brick and mortar presence...

That 210 hits probably represents At least 5x the sales...

I play Pathfinder as well as Traveller. I've GMed Pathfinder for years at GenCon and several smaller local cons. As with GenCon, Starfinder games at the local cons have been filling up. I've played a couple sessions at cons so far and it's OK. Starship combat is similar to Star Fleet Battles. Personal combat is similar to Pathfinder/D&D but with the addition of guns. Many races that you can easily play. I haven't dug into the rules, though I have a copy of the Starfinder book (free as a Paizo GenCon GM) sitting on my shelf. Just don't see myself diving into the expense of another RPG.

He mentions it leans towards science fantasy, and is essentially Pathfinder (D&D) thousands of years in the future ... meh, it's one of the reasons I've stuck with Traveller as a hobby.
While it isn't in the Tunnels and Trolls rpg game rules, there is a chronology in the back of the book that basically does this. Spell casters and fighters taking starships to other planets.

Too much additional stuff for me to. So i'll give it a pass, unless my siblings want me to run it.

Yes, it is in the T&T rules. At least, in some editions. 5.5 and 7.5, IIRC.

T&T 7.5 ed... p 171.
"1485 A.K. Lerotra'hh returns to Trollworld with a vast armada of space ships. The final struggle against Zweetz and the Spiders begins. The job is complicated because Lerotra'hh is unwilling to destroy the planet from space."

"1492 A.K. Zweetz and his forces are finally defeated. The Serpent-Bird god is driven completely out of the multiverse, beyond space and time in any known dimension. The Spider aliens are defeated by the space allies that Lerotra'hh brought back from her trip to the stars. Great sections of the world are charred badly and become wastelands for the next thousand years by both weapons and magic of unbelievable power. The planet itself is severely harmed in the struggle, and the production of planetary mana/magic begins to increase slowly."

Wouldn't SFB be a bit complicated for Ponyfinders?

"I'm going to discharge batteries and throw that power into the front shield to counter his Expanding Hoove Generator"

"Okay, but we've already passed the firing sequence, so you'll have to wait for next turn and do it during the 'neigh and reign' phase of next turn."

I liked Gamma World (1e), but if I had known Traveller at the time, I would have ported GW over and never looked back.

I never cared for other SFRPGs, but I think there must be at least one other one that I would enjoy. It would probably be golden SF though. Dumarest and Norton and a bit of Burroughs. Probably not Asimov.

When I think back to GW, Star Frontiers, FASA's Star Trek RPG, Traveller, CW/Autoduel for GURPS, the James Bond RPG and all the rest, I do kind of wonder why there weren't more Traveller-like games to come out on the market at that time. It seems like there were tons of those pocket scifi war sims or mini RPGs, but no real full fledged stuff.

And given all the superhero junk on the screens, most of which is scifi related, I'm still perplexed why the scifi genre still has to go through growing pains after all these decades with offerings like this game.

I just don't get it.

I've wondered about that myself.

I remember the great enthusiasm many had for the space program. Even Lionel trains had train cars/sets with astronaut and missle launch ability.

Yeah, I remember shows like Buck Rogers with Gil Gerard, Battlestar Galactica, the Star Wars films a few years earlier ... Alien and Aliens, and people really going crazy for that stuff.

But it's like Traveller was essentially the only game in town, unless you took a chance on GURPS.

Whatever.
