You are right, I keep forgetting that in Mongoose partially streamlined is good enough.

And they're ok with double-occupancy...? Guess so.

Cr1220 per payload ton per jump-1.

Not quite so close.

Mongoose is less strict. Double occupancy is not strictly banned for commercial ships, just "not normal"...

Crew are allowed to be double occupancy in MgT (also SRD) rules.

The funny thing is, in MgT "standard hull" can mean a cylinder with two cones on the ends which is far more "streamlined" aerodynamically than something like the space shuttle or the winged free trader. Less drag.

Factors:
- Pilot salary Cr6000/month
- Fuel at Cr100/ton unrefined
- Life support at Cr2000/mo (one crewmember)
- 20% down payment amortized over the life of the loan.

When fuel is free (skimmed or dipped), it saves Cr31/payload ton/jump-1

If the pilot foregoes his salary (basically working for room and board), it saves Cr67/payload ton/Jump-1. (In the real world, putting someone in charge of MCr20 worth of ship for just room and board is probably unwise.)

Doing both gets the ship down to Cr1075/payload ton/Jump-1.

Still not going to make money, rules as written, with just freight. But it's close!
thanks for the number crunching. I now envision owner/operators more than employee crew. So, a person(s) who is going to speculate to make money since freighting won't make the grade. 2nd hand (post 40 years) will make a nice ship for a couple. Much like you see married couple trucker teams in the USA. Their rigs include a living space with kitchen, wet bath and bed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPAuJdzSa90

that truck was really cool, and how I see small ships may work. Think the crew section on a cutter.
