Default Favorite Classic Traveller ship(s)

What are the members favorite Classic Traveller ships? I have always been fond of the 800 ton Broadsword, or the one my group modified by ripping out most of the staterooms, and converting them to cargo. This converted decks F, G and H to cargo. This allowed them to use it as a secure merchant for high value cargo. Also it made more sense to use it that way since for them it allowed more versitility in terms of adventuring.

I also am fond of the 400 Patrol Cruiser as well. It made a great adventuring ship.

Never liked the J-1 designs since they were too limited.

I've always liked the classic Type S.

Enough room for an adventuring party, enough mobility (in space and on the ground to get into trouble, and a shortage of cargo space to encourage adventuring.

Agreed. All of the CT books seem to make the free trader out to be the standard adventurer's craft, but it makes in such a burden to have to stick to J-1 lanes. My group has a fondness for the far trader, but that's mostly out of familiarity.

I like the scout on a personal daydream level and for two player games.

I prefer Free Traders if more characters

(with subsidized ferry ships for the longer gaps - a 600dt type M with the passenger state rooms and cargo removed leaving 200dt to carry a free trader over a J-2 or J-3 gap)

Broadswords I like as conversions i.e. the idea that over the centuries especially in the early years where the maximum ship size was low that tens of thousands of them were built and now converted Broadswords minus their engines are used all over the place for other things like a saloon/casino in orbit around a gas giant, or a bandit fortress on a backwater planet

(almost)

edit: if i was less lazy and more artistic i'd photoshop broadswords into pictures like that

Scout/Courier or Far Trader for a "just tryin' to keep flyin'" type campaign.

Patrol Cruiser for a "Agents of <Agency>" type campaign. I haven't been able to run or play in one of these yet, but the Type-T seems like the prototype for Mass Effect's "Normandy" (at least the first version), and is the right size for some exciting para-military adventures without crossing over into a Mercs campaign.

they're only as limited as the worlds they jump to. "come on, three adjacent star systems to play in and he can't find an adventure? the guy must be doing something seriously wrong."

I must admit I've never thought of using the Patrol Cruiser before but now it's been mentioned I can see it being quite good with lots of room for specialist NPCs and extra gear.

I always found the type K safari ship from Adventure 10 to be a charming and admittedly quirky design, a little fidgeting about made the 'expedition-based' layout over to a more profitable VIP-charter transport.

And what a wonderful daydream. Wouldn't life be so much nicer if it were just you and your pretty girl/guy, and maybe a pet beaker monkey, living and working as scouts in a relatively safe-but-still-interesting sector of space? Not a care in the world (unless the Zhod/Vargr/Sword Worlders attack that sector, which almost never happens)? I dig it.
