Hey Baron - those covers look great although they do get a little strange after the first three

Malenfant,
We understand and are aware of your views. I would respectfully ask you to either contribute meaningfully - which, if you are prepared to do in a collegial and non-confrontational fashion, I'm sure you would be welcome to do - or leave us to our devices.
- John

Rather nice, Baron. If it is an original exceptionally nice. But, I was rather hoping for more these lines. Suitably modified...of course:

Or should we just save these images for the interior artwork? But, as it has got to fly off the shelves...I would suggest the covers.

Dr. Thomas,
Bill is dead wrong and, during a visit from the 'black dog', was talking out of his wrinkled white ass.
I know this because I'm Bill.
Please take John's advice.
Have fun,
Bill

Um, I did. Baron S asked what CT+ was. Since nobody else here had bothered to explain what it was, I explained it.
And Bill - I never purported to know what was going on in your head when you wrote that, but you are still correct - it IS Vaporware, from an official perspective at least. As originally announced, it is something that exists purely in Hunter's mind. Other people seem to be charging ahead with it on their own (which is great), but the CT+ that hunter announced it is not a real product, and if it is then it is on indefinite hold, thus fulfilling the definition of 'vapourware'.
Of course, if you want me to 'back off' just for making the effort to explain things as they actually are then I'll leave you to it.

Lords, Please!
If it is a fan effort, so be it!
If it is Vaporware, so be it!
Is it rules modifications to CT?
What are the character of these changes?
Are they complicated, or easy to fathom?
Has the the combat system been redone, or fixed?
A unified character generation system?
The addition of being able to play aliens?
A revamped high guard?
A unified Starship Combat?
Is this of some specific setting?

This is Hunter's original vision:
Quote:
If it happens what you'd see is an updated version of the CT rules with a slightly modified MT task system that is compatible with the T20 task system on 'terms of difficulty' (ie: Easy, Hard, Average, etc.).
The personal combat system would be changed over to be compatible with the task system. Armor and Damage would likely be very similar to T20's system.
Characters would not change much as far as background goes, but the randomness would be optional meaning you could randomly generate your character pretty much like original CT or you can pick and choose everything instead. Adding optional rules like Advantages and Disadvantages is something I would also consider.
Vehicles, Starships, etc. would use the T20 systems which are already CT compatible, though these systems might get updated slightly.
New techs would also probably be added, but noted that some campaign settings may only use some of the technological concepts detailed in the rulebook. This would allow us to specify for example in the OTU, nanobots, cybernetic enhancements, FTL communications and such are not used. If a referee wanted to use them, they of course could but the referee would know that the published material for the OTU will not be written with these technologies in mind.
The main idea would be to update the more 'dated' game mechanics and streamline things a bit more, but keep it 100% compatible with the original CT and make it easy to dual stat supplementary for both the updated CT rules and T20.
I'm not looking to dump T20, but I do see a potential market for a more streamlined set of mechanics like what the original CT had to offer.
|
I then asked what people would have done, hypothetically, if the idea hadn't been dropped.

At the minute there are a number threads debating various rules changes that could make up a CT+ type rules.
This take on CT+ is totally unofficial, may never come to anything and may end up fairly different from Hunter's vision of an official CT+.
At the minute the consensus seems to be towards a consolidated but light variant of CT/MT with bits culled from T4 and T20. But it's early days.
Combat and task system seem to be the major points of debate at the minute. Character generation looks like it may be CT+Supp4/MT basic with tweaks. Aliens are not in the equation as yet.
There is a proposal for revamped LBB2/HG mix for ship design. It will most likely be setting independent though with the usual Traveller tech assumptions.
It's difficult to be too specific with things ongoing but have a look at the threads if you're interested....
