You might say that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Any chance of remembering the username or some context (maybe the threads they were posted in). I can't turn anything up with a search.

Cirque has tons of details on Rhylanor High Port, including all the shops and businesses (named after Kickstarter supporters).

The member's names is Selandia, may itself be a riff on the "Sealand" shipping line.

I enjoy reading his posts very much. IIRC, he's worked in the merchant marine and businesses supporting/supplying the merchant marine both afloat and ashore. His posts are great not just because of his work experiences, but because he's able to "translate" those experiences into Traveller. Unlike to many, he just doesn't file the serial numbers off and call it a day. He looks beneath the job or event, determines why it's being done, and then determines how and even why something similar would be done in the 57th Century.

I remember one post in which he talked about odd or unusual requests he had to fill while working as a chandler. He had to quickly outfit a crew from south Asia with winter work clothing suitable for Canada. In another case, he had to figure out how to replace outdated medicinal morphine aboard a freighter without getting nabbed for drug smuggling! Another great story talked about supplying a visiting FRG warship. He was told "only the best" and any bread/rolls delivered had to still be hot when delivered or they'd be sent back.

Or consider the ABC stores in Hawaii. A chain of convenience stores.

And, boy, are they convenient. You thought Starbucks saturated your community? You should see the ABC stores. (Mind, from my house, I know of 1 2 3 4 5 6

They are EVERYWHERE. They have one or two per block in Waikiki (and the blocks are short there).

From an article:

In the one and a half-square mile radius that makes up Waikiki, you'll find 34 ABC Stores. Thirty-four. Locals like to think (incorrectly) that the name stands for, "All Blocks Covered" because you can pass three stores on one block.

There are a couple of chains like that in Indonesia - Alfamart and Indomaret. If you drive around the 'burbs in Jakarta there you will find one every few hundred metres. There are a lot of 'burbs in Jakarta. There must be (literally) thousands in the Jabotedebek region.

From an article:
There is also one store in Las Vegas to cater to the Hawaiian tourist and make them feel at home.
