Default State of the Board 11 Feb 2013

Spam: we're still getting it, you just don't see most of it. AT Pollard, McPerth, and Cryton prevent yall from seeing most of it, and my annoying process of rejecting the obvious spammers is stopping more than that.

In the last 3 days, I've killed 21 putative accounts from ONE particular IP address - they're all over the map on free emails, but all going through one sublet of OVH.net in France.

Been talking with Marc via email - there is an upgrade in the works.

Current moot stats:

Moot Members - Peers* 15
Moot Members - Knights*7
Moot Members - Baronet*6
Moot Members - Barons*6
Moot Members - Marquis*19+1
Registered Users not on probation:13,950

Which covers a significant portion of the costs of running COTI. If you want COTI to last, please consider moot membership. (And remember: not all of your COTI Moot Membership fee goes to the board - a small percent is the payment solution provider's fee.) To be self-sustaining, the board needs about 100 total moot members. (The +1 is a registration that I'm waiting on payment confirmation on.)

I'm getting up to speed on how Hunter has modified the VBulletin templates. Which is good, since I'm going to need to revise them for VBulletin 5 in the not too distant future.

The board's Wiki is working. It's doing some strange errors after edits, but it is working. http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Tra...itle=Main_Page

I've updated the copyright notice on the bottom of the pages. (Thanks, Dave!)

There will be a scheduled downtime on the server within the next few weeks for a server OS upgrade. Details will follow when I get them.

I've updated the introductory "Welcome to COTI" email to note the 3-day posting lag.

I've put a couple of "board feature" ideas before the moot. (Or will have in a couple minutes.)

I've reopened the pit - but only for titled members of the moot. (knight or higher to post, baronet or higher to start new topics)

I've enabled and added thread prefixes.

There have been minor clarifications of the board rules. I moved one particular subset of rule 6 to its own rule. The infraction titles are now matched to the board rules by number. (And for those who don't know - hunter and I revised the board rules together back just after I became a moderator... Andrew made a few wording changes a few years ago. This is the first real upgrade to them in almost a decade.)

On the issue of Sockpuppet accounts: if you have multiple accounts, they need to mention the link in the profile, or in the username. Several of the staff have sockpuppet accounts, mostly for testing. Anything you see posted by "AramisSockpuppet" is me testing stuff.

I've added the 1K, 5K, 10K posts badges... because I think they're cool. The reactions haven't been negative. Also, it was a test of the ability to work around a certain server issue that won't be an issue anymore.
