Smile [Freelance Traveller] Mar/Apr 2019 Available for Download!

The March/April 2019 issue of Freelance Traveller is posted for download!

This issue's triple feature focusses on legendary consulting detective Sherlock Holmes and his trade: Timothy Collinson has provided a character profile for Mr Holmes, a set of career tables for a Consulting Detective for Mongoose Traveller, and a collection of adventure seeds for using a Consulting Detective.

Also in this issue is the usual mix of reviews, rules, beasts, characters, adventures, and so on that you, the Traveller community, have been kind enough to create and share!

Download this issue at the usual place:

I found the review of the Optional Components Guide a bit amusing, since both the word Ortillery and drones for space combat appeared in the game Heavy Gear no later than the year 2000, and the concept of Ortillery (a portmanteau of "orbital artillery") is just a quick way of describing Jerry Pournelle's 1950s-era Project Thor. That doesn't detract from the work the reviewer did, but it does serve as a demonstration of how the hobby is broad enough and there are enough distinct silos that even fairly popular games can be unknown by wide swathes of the participants.

With regards to Mr. Collinson's article on Sherlock Holmes, I have one nit to pick, which is that baritsu is not Japanese. It's a typographical error by Mr. Doyle referring to bartitsu, which was developed by Edward William Barton-Wright from elements of boxing, jujitsu, and savate, as well as single-stick. It is a very English martial art.

Overall, the issue's quite well done, and I hope my comments are seen as input offered in hopes of continued excellence, rather than any sort of dislike or distaste.
