LBBs - Is there a new version?
I was just browsing the Traveller listings on eBay. There were several books very simular to the LBBs, but with different titles, for example "High Guard Book 2". Very sketchy details and nothing on the photo to indicat just what they might be. Anyone know what these are?

Unless I miss my mark (not uncommon, btw), these are just the Mongoose version of Traveller essentially update/revising and reprinting the older classic era versions.

I searched for "High Guard 2" on ebay and came up with many entries for Mongoose's version of High Guard, book 2. The black books (full sized) with the green Traveller lettering and "swish" are Mongoose books.

I agree, it is probably the Mongoose High Guard Book 2. to the best of my knowledge:
For Classic Traveller:
Book 0: Introduction To Traveller
Book 1: Characters and Combat
Book 2: Starships.
Book 3: Worlds and Adventures
Book 4: Mercenary.
Book 5: High Guard.
Book 6: Scouts.
Book 7: Merchant Prince.
Book 8: Robots.
See http://www.farfuture.net/
For Mongoose Traveller:
The "Traveller Main Rulebook" or Traveller Core Rulebook is what you need to start. Similar to the CT LBB 1-3. I believe CT had a later print "The Traveller Starter Edition" where LBB 1-3 were all in one book too.
Book 0: Introduction to Traveller
Book 1: Mercenary
Book 2: High Guard
Book 3: Scout
Book 4: Psion
Book 5: Agent
Book 6: Scoundrel

Mongoose Traveller is a new version...
very similar to CT, but it is NOT "essentially update/revising and reprinting the older classic era versions"... it is a new version.

Yes, it is the Mongoose version which I will not buy. I have the hardback core rules and didn't like it. Thanks for the list, CosmicGamer.
