What kind of music is in your game? I'm not talking just the music you play for your players, but what music do the characters encounter?

. . .

Do you have a Hiver band playing in your starport bar?

I just want see what everyone has come up with.
We hired a Hiver band once--but a week later, all the maintenance staff and bartenders formed a union and struck for better working conditions. Then they started a revolution and took over the starport. Then the revolution spread to three nearby systems . . .

Then there was the Hiver Mime Troop who toured the Kukulcan Subsector. That worked out a bit better. Within four months, the little Thetis-Laputa-Kukulcan Trade War was resolved, leading to the founding of a new corporation, CapriceCorp, which promises soon to dominate much of Alpha Crucis Sector as well as Kikulkan Subsector itself.

I like the idea of (an aging) Veedback, the rock gods, from JTAS No. 23 (a terrific issue) playing some Deacon Blues.

Thanks.

On a more sober note, I'm considering encouraging a woodwind quartet, or maybe recorders, in my next ship's crew.

I wonder what the Vilani equivalent might be?

The Amish and Mennonite communities on Vinland in the Sword Sub-sector of the Piper-Norton Out Rim Sector tends towards traditional hymns along with guitar and some string instruments.

The Space Vikings lean towards brass interments and drums, with some bagpipes. You get a lot more bagpipes in the Tuatha Sub-sector.

On El Paso, you get Marty Robbins and the older Western music, like Sons of the Pioneers. "Ghost Riders in the Sky" is quite popular, as is the song "Wyatt Earp" sung by an otherwise unknown artist called Hugh O'Brian. Another otherwise unknown artist sings a song called "Paladin", about a famous Earth gunfighter.

I march to my own set of bagpipes. Caution: This individual thinks that studying logistics is FUN.

I prefer the chant from the Abbey of Saint Cecelia on Grunwald/Orvon. Much more soothing and meditative. And no twang, nor yodeling ever!

Though, in recreation, they've been known to do the theme from "Rawhide," as well as "Minnie the Moocher."

Also, in one of the (now dead) Traveller games I was in, the GM had a band called the Stoned Rollers.
