Default BBC: Robin Hood

Last weekend my cable company offered a sneak peek at the BBC America channel. I had some time to kill and watched an episode of Robin Hood. I was surprised to see the level of political correctness and current events experienced by our heroes from Sherwood Forest.

The plot revolved around a visiting Muslim Prince seeking peace in the Middle East. Themes touched upon in this one episode included:

Feminism
the basic goodness of Islam
post tramatic stress disorder for returning soldiers
Terrorism/fanaticism
the need for peace at any cost

I DO NOT WISH TO START A CONVERSATION ABOUT ANY OF THESE THEMES SINCE THAT WOULD BELONG IN THE POLITICAL PULPIT.

Since I will probably never see another episode, I was just wondering if the show is always this "socially active" in addressing modern issues cloaked in medieval garb or was that just a chance comparison of the Crusades with the modern Middle East?
