Default NPC Reactions

How does MGT handle NPC Reactions?
(In CT, there is a table tied to a die roll to determine this.)
I went through the MGT SRD, but couldn't find any mechanic that governs this.
Is there something in the published material that's not in the SRD on this topic?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, not familiar with CT reactions. Could you please clarify. Individual combat reactions, ship combat reactions, something else?

E.g. when an NPC is encountered, how will he/she/it react? Hostile? Neutral? Very friendly? (Effected with a 2D throw).

I found animal reaction tables in the SRD (=fight or flight), but not for intelligent-species encounters.

As mentioned on the MGT forums where the question was also asked, the GM determines the reactions based on the persona that has been created for the NPC and the PC's interaction.

Not sure how CT did it, but I don't see how a random table can properly determine better than a GM how a serial killer on the run trying to avoid drawing attention to himself and a little gray haired old woman who needs help crossing the street will react to the players doing.... there are zillions of things that the players could be doing that the NPC's might react to.

Reaction rolls are typically for PC's. No, not to determine PC reactions, but for the PC's ability to obtain a desired outcome utilizing Social and Persuade or various other skill rolls.

There are tables for creating certain NPC's. Typically patrons, enemies, contacts, allies and rivals. I've used those tables to quickly generate a random, non pre generated NPC.

There are also random encounter tables based on location such as rural, urban, starport.

Check the Encounters chapter of your Traveller Book. There's a Reaction Chart, using a 2D throw.

Sorry...I meant the CT Traveller Book. Re-reading the OP, I see he's talking about MGT, not CT.

Silly me.

Prison Planet covers NPC initial reactions: there's a small table that determines randomly what the reaction will be. The Referee can modify the 2d6 roll up or down depending on the nature of the NPC and the PC: a psion thrown into a prison of mostly Imperials will likely find all reaction rolls modified by -2 or -4, and an Imperial thrust into a mostly Sword Worlder cell block faces a similar negative DM to the reaction roll.

Furthermore, the Reputation and Gang Reputation ratings are introduced in Prison Planet, and the Trust rating is introduced in Agent.
