Mr. Brazer,

Thank for you for another series of "nasties" to inflict on adventuring parties.

Your description of the paskrin as rats with tentacles made me do the Skeeved Out Squirm in my chair as I read it.

Regards,
Bill

For a spider to grow to human size would be scientifically impossible due to the arachnid respiratory system and the square/cube law.

As such "giant spiders" really don't belong in traveller.

I am glad you enjoyed it. I tend to write what would scare me because I know someone else would get scared of the same thing, no matter what century they are in.

Even on worlds with lower gravity and more oxygen-rich atmospheres?

An adult Japanese Spider Crab can reach a leg span of 4 meters and a weight
of 20 kilogram. While it does not have the mass of a human, it definitely has
the size.

Or if bitten by a radioactive human

To be honest I find it a bit of a stretch myself but nobody is forcing me to use them.

After seeing a picture of a Japanese Spider Crab a couple years ago that went into my Traveller files. They are scary alien looking. In fact I sorta vaguely recall now, something very like them in a JTAS maybe?

I've seen a crab with a .5m wide body (and 2m legspan) drag itself along the ground.
