Default How to use the AP characteristic for weapons

I purchased the MGT Core Traveller Rulebook, and then the MGT Mercenary book; and I recently purchased the Mongoose Supply Catalog. Various of the Supply Catalog weapons have the Armor Piercing (AP) characteristic. How do you apply the AP characteristic in combat ?

The definitions and applications of all of the various armor-piercing types (Semi-AP, AP, Super-AP, Ultra-AP, etc) area all described in detail in the introductory chapters of Central Supply Catalogue.

It's defined in the MgT2 Core book:

Thank you CaptDilbert for explaining the AP characteristic. I must have the first edition MGT Core Rulebook. Now I can apply the AP without having to purchase a 2nd edition !

Another quick question: some of the heavier weapons in the Supply Catalog (such as the FGMP) have a damage characteristic expressed as DD instead of D (e.g. 1DD). Again, the first edition Core Rulebook doesn't explain that.

That indicates a Destructive Weapon, where damage is multiplied by ten; eg, 3DD = 3 dice x 10 total damage.

Default More re damage factors in The Supply Catalog

By now it is apparent that I have a first edition Core Rulebook, and the Supply Catalog uses 2nd edition rules. Thanks so much for explaining the AP and DD characteristics. Two more similar questions:
What is the effect of the Blast characteristic ?

And what is the overall effect of RADs (how many constitute a lethal or debilitating dose, over what time. Are RADs cummulative ?). I see that various forms of Vacc suits, Combat Armor and Battle Dress are rated as protective against various RAD levels.

Again, thanks to everyone for your patience with these questions.

Just found the Rads explanation in the Mongoose Traveller Core Rulebook ed. 1 (under the Spaceships section). I apologize if anyone was compiling an answer regarding Rads.

The Blast trait in MgT 2e indicates a weapon that has an area-of-effect radius equal to the Blast score in meters: grenades, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, etc. Anyone/thing in the Blast radius can be attacked in addition to the initial target.

cheers
