I'm looking forward to playing a different flavoured Pathfinder. Hopefully my Pathfinder Society group will be happy to alternate between PFS and Starfinder Society (?)

I've always considered Shadowrun sci-fantasy, perhaps almost urban-fantasy, actually.

Dresden files is urban fantasy, I haven't read the books but I liked the TV show. Basically a magician PI.

Warehouse 13 is pretty much urban fantasy, I think, enjoyed that show as well.

Ultimately I think things from folklore really have no place in science fiction.

Again, there was some guy who posted here circa 2003, maybe a year or two earlier or later, about how he took a group of Traveller PC's through a Middle Earth like setting. And things were fine until the group ran out of ammo. I think that kind of dynamic is interesting as a one off. Otherwise it doesn't do it for me.

I'll check out the rules and background, but I'm getting Gammaworld like vibes from it.

Whatever. To each his own.

That line sums up Starfinder for me as well.

Yeah, me too: glad Paizo is doing well, but just not my style.
"I am more inclined to punish Hurtiancz for his crassness," said Ildefonse. "But now he simulates a swinish stupidity to escape my anger."
"Absolute falsity!" roared Hurtiancz. "I simulate nothing!"
Ildefonse shrugged. "For all his deficiencies as polemicist and magician, Hurtiancz at least is candid."

I'll second that again. It's good that people enjoy RPGs, and I reckon one of my kids would probably like playing this game & setting, but I likely won't join them.

Well, I tried to get it at GenCon. It was sold out in the first 6 hours on THURSDAY! I only went yesterday and today.
I like my Traveller like the women I unfortunately usually date: Cold, Harsh, and Full of Drama.

For those curious, I took a look through a friend's PDF copy...

Default Attributes 8-18, point build. Base 10's, plus mods for archetype and race, then 10 more points, to max 18.
Archetypes provide 1 attribute +1 and a 1/6/12/18 level feat chain.
Race provides several attribute mods and feats. Some form of point system to customize them, too.
One of which looks like a form of Jedi-ish magic-using contemplative. Another, the Technomancer, is obviously B-5 kockoff. The Solarian looks like a jedi guardian type semi-paladin.

Hit Points flat score by race and class
Stamina points per level SP by class, modified by Con Bonus.
Stamina takes damage first. Stamina recovers all in a night's sleep, or spend a resolve and recover them all now. HP are 1 per night per level.

Skills work (IIRC) just like Pathfinder - class provides points to spend, class skills get +3 bonus once you start putting points in them.

Gear List fits right in with a 40K theme.

Ships point built.
