Default LEGO Project: Imperial Marines

So I ordered eighteen LEGO "Classic Space" mini figures, with a lot of wear on the front emblem, on purpose: I hope to get a good image of the Imperial sunburst, print it onto sticker-paper, and make Imperial marines out of the lot.

Any suggestions for image sources? And how about Zhodani commandos too?

Yeah, shouldn't Photoshopping the avatars do the trick?

And you'll need a real fine pen to make the Zho's helmets.

Avatars: yeah, that'll work. This weekend I screen-captured the images from MegaTraveller and re-sized them down to 60x60 pixels, at 120 pixels per cm. Just about right.

Turns out a bazillion of these little images print on one sheet of sticker-paper. A small circular stamp cuts them out nicely with a little bit of wiggle space.

Now I'm concerned about colors. I have them black on white, but I also have Dulinor's in red, Norris' in blue, Zhos in a kind of midnight blue, and the Sunburst in yellow. As far as I can tell, the Vilani have always been black. Margaret's is in black as well, but surely there's a color used there.

And then, I'll work on background colors. I have white, and I'm aiming to also have red, blue, yellow, and black.

The next phase of the project is to cobble together a variety of weapons for these troops. Here's my inspiration:

Neat! Now we need to have LEGO versions of the Traveller ships (Type S, a Beowulf, etc)!

I actually started on that a couple years back playing with the online LEGO digital designer trying to build some small craft and vehicles to lego dude scale (even a Type S would be too big imo). I wasn't happy with the results though. Maybe someone else with a better imagination...

Whoo! Yeah, I imagine that would be pretty big!

Is Lego-Dude size the same as the minifigures (Like those included in the LEGO Millenium Falcon)?

Pretty sure. So, yes, a LEGO Suleiman would be large.

Think of it this way: build a stateroom for a minifigure; that's probably 2 to 4 tons.

Or: if only two 'studs' equalled one meter, then a Scout would be maybe 75 'studs' long, and 48 'studs' at its widest.

A more sensible, intermediate goal would be to make a "scale" version, where a single 1x1 brick displaces half a ton. That would reduce the stateroom to a 2x2 brick. The Sulie would be a more manageable 25 studs long, and 16 studs at the widest point.

The Sulie would be easy enough. Just use the Star Destroyer model, and remove the bridge tower. That would be about right.
