What I'm thinking is a set of large frame pieces:
lower hull frame
upper hull frame
main deck frame
main deck walls
Aft hull-shell frame.
landing gear

The main deck frame is a framework; the walls could be as well.

Using 1:100 scale (roughly 15mm), this would use 1.5 cm on centers 3x3mm joists, with 3x5mm main spars, for the hull shell. This would permit making the hull shell out of the Iron/Bronze or WS&F. pin connections for the main deck could be included.

In WS&F, interiors could be done with 3cm tall 0.5cm on centers 1x1mm studs and headers, formed to shape. The floors are framed, and you add a deck surface, then glue down the walls.

This would allow any of the following methods of coverage:
1) glue down cardstock panels (cut to shape prior)
2) glue on plasticard from the local hobbyshop. (cut to shape prior)
3) glue on aluminum foil (use a spray adhesive, then trim to edges)
4) fabric, possibly with paint doping; glue on then paint. Use a sheer rayon or cotton-poly, and acrylic paints... and you get an effect similar to airplaine fabrics...

As for why a separate aft wall? It allows maximum flexibility.

I may have the images of the model Type S Scout-Courier from the 'lost' personal page of it's builder, is there any conflict or trespass to repost said images if the author-creator is duly credited ?

Make it 1:72 scale and put it up for pre-order on Starship Modeler!

While this particular example is not a Traveller ship, it may help some folks decide if they want to pursue any of the Shapeways ship designs.

The 'Lexa' is a version of the Andromeda Ascendant, not 100% accurate to the show, but very close. I've scratch-built it at 55mm, and saw that the vendor AdmiralDuckSauce had it in his Shapeways store front for a very reasonable price, so I got one and was very pleased. I communicated with him about the costs of scaling it up to be in the 10.5 inch/250mm size range as a desk top model, and yes, it was pricey.

I've uploaded some pics of my scratch 55mm, the 60mm, and 250mm ships that I have:

Even The Boss (my wife) was impressed with the Shapeways ships, and agreed that the cost was fair, given what you get.

Just had a thought - what about a 1/72 scale of a Trigress? Could also be used as your house!
