Default 600 dton yacht - deckplans

A 600 dton yacht. Stats are for MgT2e, but the deckplans should be good enough for other editions, too:

Looks more like a Privateer than a Yacht...

What arouses your suspicion? The ship is designed to meet the requirement specifications provided by a reputable noble family. I doubt they have ulterior motives. If they had, I could build them a much better privateer.

6 gees of maneuver for one, your average civilian ship has one...

6G maneuver is a big red flag.

Having only one HP isn't enough to allay that, especially given the size of the cargo area. Lose 5 Td cargo and put in a handful more turrets, and it's a privateer.

The original yacht had a high speed small craft, makes sense for a 'quick getaway' for high value owners and guests. Same thing would apply if you choose to make the whole ship that way.

30 Dt cargo makes you a privateer? That seems to be a stretch...

Traditionally, yachts are fast. And I don't get the comparison with "average civilian crafts". Of course, a cargo ship optimized for cheap operation and efficiency will have other performance parameters than a luxury vessel made mostly to show off.

But surprisingly, the high-g m-drive isn't on the requirement list. That's a decision I made. Perhaps because if I would spend 300 MCr on a toy, I'd want a fast one!

In Traveller 1g. At least in the 4 examples I just looked up.

In the real world they tend gravitate towards Hullspeed of the boat in question often in the range of 10 to 20 knots. Hull design and power is the big question here.

If you change the design to thrust 1 and adjust the power plant and fuel tanks accordingly, you can go down to a 500 dton hull without losing anything else, and save around 100 MCr.

Of course, you wouldn't own the fastest (civilian) ship in the subsector, then. In this regard, bragging rights might be worth 100 MCr. But I can see a more modest person going down that route without any stretch of imagination.

Edit: Stats and deckplans for the Lame Yacht
