One Step Over the Line
The ship Black Star on approach to Feri/Spinward Marches, turned slightly away, trying to avoid the high port orbital platform’s detection. It was a period of unrest. Two of the nations were disputing mineral rights to one small island and had sent in small contingencies of troops to enforce their particular claims. There was no reason to ingage in official business with the space command as to why the ship was there.
Cirocco Jones, pilot of the Black Star glanced sideways at her copilot. “Good thing we are just transporting passengers.” Her grin said otherwise, and Josh Bissell in the second seat returned her smirk and nodded. “Just get us in close and we can slide under their umbrella.”
The “passaengers” included a military team that had been contracted to fulfill a mission for an off planet client. They were currently in the crew’s common area just behind the bridge, checking their equipment and getting the final instructions.
