Default Fallout 4

Anyone here a Fallout fan?

If so you really need to check out the Fallout 4 video from Bethesda's E3 announcement last night.

Now I just need to figure out if I can finish all the other games I want to by November 10th, how many days off I will have by then, and whether or not 37 days will be enough playing time to allow me to take a break long enough to go see Star Wars Episode 7....

I think I'll spend quite a lot of money upgrading my computer so it will be able to run Fallout 4 and other modern games (such as XCOM II).

Been playing for over 72 hours and still finding new challenges! Great game, thoroughly developed world, engaging plot and a multitude of sub-plots, and lots of guns and armor. Easily ported to Trav as a post-apocalyptic Yellow Zone world.

My Fallout resume;

Wasteland
Fallout
Fallout 2
Fallout Tactics

I have not played Wasteland 2 nor Fallouts 3 or 4, but hopefully might this coming year.

I know when you buy the console version of 4 you get a digital download of 3. The same deal may exist for the PC version.

I think you'll be very happy with the Bethesda take on the original games; I played all the originals too. For Bethesda it was obviously a labor of love as they got almost everything spot on.

Interesting. I was just hoping they'd rerelease the original games with better graphics. I'll have to reserve judgment on 3 and 4, but I'm always a little iffy on FPS games tuned to the adventure format. It seems like an obvious thing to do, but historically it's had mixed success. Still, 3 was wildly successful.

It's still an RPG at heart and the combat can be made more tactical than FPS if you stick with VATS (basically turn based like the original). But it is a hard slog and fraught with cartoon deaths. The game definitely encourages a sniper mentality, especially when you increase in level and become more lethal at a distance. And bullets are scarce in the beginning so you usually don't benefit from jumping into combat at every opportunity; it leaves you ill prepared for unavoidable situations or ambushes.
