I'm off to dig up the Andy Slack articles, but in the meantime thought I'd throw this out: has anyone developed or come across a decent point-based chargen system for CT covering all the skills and careers, including Books 4-7 and supplement 4? Some of the prospective Traveller players I'm cultivating are interested in the system but reaaalllly don't want to give up point-based chargen.
By the way, my holiday gifts to my gaming group? Planning to give them the QLI CT book 1-3 reprints.
/cue evil laugh
TIA,
John (who's off to waste some work time on Google)
EDIT: fixed annoying typo in title

Points based character generation for CT?
Set every characteristic at 6 and then give ten points to buy skills or characteristics, plus four points per term served.
Ignore automatic skills.
Or,
roll characteristics normally and then grant four points per term to be spent on characteristics or skills.
Promotion may be bought once per term for one point.

Oooh, Sigg, have you ever taken a look at this?
The Ringsurf site leading to this was the first hit on my Google search.

Thought you'd like that.
I'm pretty sure this is the Crucible Campaign featured in recent months on Freelance Traveller.
I can see where I might want to make a few tweaks, but I think we've got a winner, ladies & gentlemen...
