General Campaign scene ideas needed

The new Government is going to re-activate a historic landmark type spaceship. As the old lady is moved to the dockyard, it becomes the center of attention for passing civilian traffic. Soon the area has a 'traffic jam'. The PCs and their ship are called in to clear out some of the crowd, and deal with reckless drivers, video-drones, &c.

IRL, when the US Navy moved USS New Jersey to Philadelphia Navy Yard to be reactivated (early 1980s), traffic on all the bridges over the Delaware River stopped because people got out of their cars to watch / photograph the ship passing beneath them.

Brilliant idea. Reminds me of when we had Endeavour make its way thru Los Angeles. That was a de-activation, but still quite amazing.

Whether the ship is to be reactivated or a very quickly built (and shoddy) one you have a scenario where almost no one aboard really has a clue about their job. Even those with a bit of experience find it outdated or irrelevant to the ship they're on.

Most of the scenario is about learning the ship and dealing with all sorts of problems cropping up. The crew has to learn the ship and fix the problems.

Then comes that moment of sheer hellish terror when they are confronted in some way where they're all likely to die. Can they survive contact with the enemy?
