Default The Wiki, Cepheus and 3PP

I have a question for you maksimsmelchak and othe maintainers of the wiki.

What your position and/or feeling on having the Cepheus Engine and/or 3PP products under the Cepheus logo introduced into the wiki? I was curious because there are quite a few non-canon, non-OTU products in the mix in the wiki already, and I'm feeling a little number crunching hunger again. Or work on obscure topics. Also, I should give my eyes a bit of rest. I may end up like Donald Pleasance from The Great Escape

The wiki, it seems - to me - to say AAB Imperial Encyclopedia on its Main Page. Contributors do submit and save non-canon material to the wiki. But I know that all of my contributions, while non-canon, have been as faithful as possible to the Traveller universe. Others may not agree about my contributions. My position is that the wiki feels to be more about Charted Space and the various Traveller systems as a resource, rather than a wiki for injecting something from outside Charted Space. Myself, I will never contribute material that reaches outside that spirit. I already accept that my entries will be non-canon and marked as such, unless by some miracle they are taken as canon by fans, readers, the individual Referee or by the IP owner.

If Cepheus or another, third-party system needs a wiki, then by the Ancients, create one. Each deserves something that Referees, players and writers can donate freely of their creativity for use or ignoring.

There are a few things to keep in mind.

First, the Wiki is focused around the OTU, and the various publications that include that, and a number of unofficial publications and fan based writings. But we do have an established manner of publishing items from other, alternative Traveller Universes. ATU material is welcome, as long as we have a way of separating it from the normal OTU (canon/non-canon) material.

Second, the wiki (meaning I as the wiki administrator) will aggressively reject material we don't have explicit written permission to include in the wiki. This would be especially true for material being published for sale by licensed publisher. It includes, for example, everything currently in print by Mongoose.

Third, as a general rule, the wiki articles do not include game rules. This was part of the original license from Marc for starting the Wiki, and we continue the practice today.

With that in mind, what did you have in mind to be working on?

Well that knocks the wind out of my sails. Are any of these still applicable?

Part of it was to update the bibliography. The Traveller products (ludography?) which I thought would include the all other Mongoose products, but it sounds like I cannot make entries for:
A.The other campaigns (Judge Dredd, Babylon 5, etc.) though they are official Traveller books due to the OTU/ATU limitation.
B.The remaining Mongoose books (Books, Supplements, Third Imperium series). I see that some of these already have bibliographic entries, but the list was incomplete, the 1st ed Trojan Reach books come to mind. Are the current Mongoose entries inappropiate or those specifically are no longer in print?
C.Updating appropiate entries from the Third Imperium series, based on the data found in said Mongoose books.

In addition because I look at the paradigm of "Traveller" being a set rules (Classic Traveller) tied to a specific campaign universe (the OTU), both of which have expanded beyond that origin. I like to examine things from all 3 viewpoints. I realize others may not agree. But with that in mind:
D.TAS Community entries - these seem to fall under "unofficial" category at times
E.Cepheus Engine books - not so as OTU/ATU certainly (TAS community covers that), but yes as a descendant of the CT rules

The time and attention I've given to keeping the Mongoose ludography entries
up to date is sadly lacking. I'm aware there are entries missing and would enthusiastically support adding all of these to the wiki. Even the Judge Dredd and B5 books.

Item C: appropriate entries from the Third Imperium series: This falls under my second point above.

The TAS Community entries - This is a reference I'm missing.

The Cepheus engine books in the ludography are another category of books I've not had the time to dig through and add to the wiki. I would not at all mind these to be added to the Wiki.

Wiki articles from the Cepheus books (and similar publishers) fall under the second point. I require permission from the author/publishers before allowing it.
