Default Maps

Someone asked for a map.

Here's the target peninsula at 100miles to the hex. Consider this to be the "best known" to date. Note that the Italian Colony is off to the east.
The current crown colony is about 1400 miles due north of the word "venusian".

Wondering if scale might be off by factor of 10 or so?

7000 miles is approx diameter of the whole planet Venus, correct?

So, umm, 2*Pi*3500 is approx 22,000 miles circumference.

Yet at 500 miles/hex that peninsula we are going to visit is about 7000 miles east to west - approx 1/3 circumference of planet? Is that correct?

Not arguing, just checking, as that seems a large area of responsibility. Like, "Oh, just fly down and survey North America for us, please."

EDIT: Also, checking Conklin's, I see a peninsula of about this shape lying abt 700 miles south of Fort Collingswood...

EDIT 2: Ah, I think I found the source map, on p.23 of Conklin's. If I read the map scale correctly, those are 100 mile hexes, not 500.

I'll double check the source map - it's a close up view of the one in Conchlin's.

Yeah, those are supposed to be 100mile, not 500 mile, hexes.
