First of its class the WAKANDA HAWTHORNE was flagged to its world of construction, its keel having been laid down on the 17th day of the 2nd month of the 338th year since the founding of the Fifth Imperium of Man & Kin (or in the beginning of the reign of Her Imperial Majesty Edwina II, also know as Edwina the Just) in the Iron Belt Yards at [SF 3226] CTSAI (A 000 558-K) of the Imperial core sector SO FAR. The design has been in service since those day in same basic form and fitting as the original, though variants and custom fitted versions are seen. The ships of this class are more commonly called and known W. HAWTHORNE class Research Vessels (though Naval Architects still use the full class name, as do the Registry Lists of The Admiralty). The class takes its name primarily from famous scientists or engineers involved in jump physics [including those so called fantastic drives and jump+ levels such as hop, skip and leap of the Old Empires] and jump theory [including those so called unbelievable drives and levels, such as the Bound and Vault drives are predicted to be built someday by the new galactic polities yet to be born will transit with. (Though even that theory agrees it is stressing the upper limits of Jumpspace).]

It is often used by members of the Imperial and Royal Academy of Sciences (IRAS) while engaged in private research endeavors.

The Imperial and Royal Academy of Sciences gives special member privileges when it comes to cashing in Ship Shares. The IRAS as Patron may chose to give the use of a standard 200-ton WAKANDA HAWTHORNE (Type-N) for 1 Ship Share.

This ship's primary mission is major long term data-collection after Scouts have been initially through a previously unexplored area. The R/V may or may not have that Scout data when it arrives in a system. This data is then used by various ministries, agencies, companies and corporations and individuals to evaluate the new area. They are sometimes used by the various groups such as the aforementioned IRAS or the Institutes, who use the ships as test beds for experimental or prototype starship systems both due their survivability and the class' age and design standards.

Its engineering section sports the Saniisha Sh1A hop drive, the Celerity Drive Works VB2 maneuver drive, and the Rivington, Ltd. H.25Cam power plant, giving performance of Hop-1 and 2G acceleration. The vessel is designed to operate under frontier conditions and includes a full fuel system with multiple purifiers. These fuel systems can also be used to create slugs with the onboard anti-matter slug creator.

Adjacent to the bridge is an artificial intelligence loaded onto a photonic Model/5 master computer and access to the ship's sophisticated avionics systems. There are four standard staterooms, one owner's stateroom (for the Scholar) and one medical low berth and one emergency low berth. There are four hardpoints; the W. HAWTHORNE has two filled hard points, one has installed a Duluk Dika Rezuunaak (DDR) TuDC-K4 quad datacaster turret for missile defense and the other a Threts, IC k4SC quad sandcaster turret for beam laser defense, two hardpoints are reserved for future quad turret installations. The class also has installed standard a two-node DDR BuND-K ultimate multi-mode nuclear damper system. Three escape capsules are available in cases of emergency or damage which precede staying on or saving the ship.

It carries two ship's vehicles, a enclosed Bayami General air/raft and a Rezuunaak-EIE USRB-K (or Ultimate Science Research Buggy (TL-K), a 5thI variant based on the ancient EIE Mining Buggy-B). There is a standard a 10 ton lab space for academic research or experimentation and a smaller 4 ton private lab, both are equipped with an isolated, dedicated science or engineering computer network. Another standard feature of the class is the medical section with counseling to surgery. There is a variety of life support stowed on board and an aeroponic garden supplements this. A well stocked damage control locker and ship's locker round out the safety enhancements. The usual W. HAWTHORNE has two airlocks, a cargo capacity of 10 tons and includes standard a container handler. The hull is streamlined with fins, is floatation rated, and has landing gear with pads for landing on uneven or unstable surfaces (with equipped lifter support to compensate for shifting conditions).

The W. HAWTHORNE class typically requires a minimum crew of six: pilot, astrogator, two engineers, medic, and steward. Up to four gunners may be added along with two drivers. The ship can carry, owner (Scholar), four high or up to eight middle passengers and no low passengers. There is 0.5 ton free for the owner to customize.

Just wondering where we get the TL 24 computer when the builder is at TL 19 (e-hex 19=K see page 35 in the rule book) is the Permatic Imperium *That* advanced on computer technology? (Four items are TL 20, one TL 22 and one TL 24).

Can't have antimater B potiental 2 at TL 19 that takes TL 20, so to have potiential 2 you have base TL = 20, and TL needed for MOD stage is +2 from there, TL 22 required for your A-Plant, minimum tons for A-plant is 31 tons.
So if we are running a TL 19 Potiental 2 A-Plant it needs to be Early Stage at 90% efficency needing a Drive C in a Hull B to reach potiental 2 at 33 Tons and 2X cost. Mods to QREBS E -1, B +1 and S -1.

The Hop Drive at MOD stage shows a conflict in the rules.
P. 362 We have Drive Tech Level Efficency table entry:
Mod Modified +2 /2 90% 1.1

P. 338 we have the Drive Tech Level Efficency Table entry:
Mod Modified +2 /2 110% 0.9

I think the P. 338 entry is correct and you can make HOP 1 with 220 tons using 90% as much fuel. Again minimum size for drives is not being accounted for your hop drive should take 10 tons.

In short, the software is not in usable form yet, you can't enter TL stage effects or specify TL for the hull and many of the other accessories and fittings, you cannot change things like obey/ignore drive minimum size requirements. I'll finish up the ship I'm doing in the lab ship thread using the fittings you have used here. I'll change the TL available to TL 19 and get you all set up.

First off, you getting the TL confused with the TN. The TN is the Target Number, it this case the Computer can hit a TN of 24.

True enough, but if you read the description this a Fifth Imperium museum piece now, but the data represents what it was factory fresh. Apply some time to it and then see if it seems so cool.

Do not modify the design you have.

That is a separate ship from this one and it stays with the fitting, mods, and TL it started with.

The only reason ships of this class are even running is because Vladimir is quietly funneling left overs (to him, Relics of the Old Empires to most people) from His Fleet hidden somewhere in the Imperium. Also there is a limited supply of them in in the Far Stars and most of them are on Missions from the Crown, I would say there are less than 50 total (probably more like 30) up and running at one time of this type still running and all of them are centuries old. There are only about 20 of the Khukeks still functioning. So, it is not like they are just giving these away. Notice how I said they "may (at their discretion)" grant the use of one of these Relic ships.

So keep on working on the one you started. I got enough ADD going here as it is.
