Here is the place to put your character information for the In Character Play by post The Frontier.
It is a fairly standard Traveller setting with the exception of FTL communications, the Warp Drive, and the substitution of the Federation for the Imperium. New Terra, the capital has a population of about 1 million, not counting all the people who may be lurking in the wilds of this planet. There is a Capital District of New Terra which is fairly civilized city surrounded by a belt of Suburbs radiating 100 miles from the capital city on the East coast of the Northern continent analogous to North America, it is a terraformed world, so the only lfe in evidence is that native to old Earth. The day is around 24 hours, all clocks are adjusted so that a day on New Terra is exactly 24 hours by definition, Seasons are the same, the Calendar has 12 months with familiar names and each month is 30 days long. Also their is a large moon in the sky that is the approximate diameter as the Earth's moon as seen from Earth and it is larger than the Solar disk on those occasions when there is a total eclipse of the Sun. This planet was selected for its Earthlike features to be terraformed and named "New Terra" so the similarities to Earth are not suprising. All character classes are available. The class of Noble is not offically recognized, but there are Nobles none the less, but they are called millioniares or multi-millionares, they are born into wealth rather than having made it themselves. There are no Inheritance Taxes in the Star Federation so their are a number of families that have goten rich over the years. Nobels have no special prevaledges other than what their money brings them. |
All right, here we go:
Name: Peter Carson a.k.a. The Magnificent Pete Solomani Human, 34 years old Level: 7 (Professional 3, Traveller 2, Rogue 2) Profession: Stage Magician (and also a part-time private investigator) Typical quote: "Magicians are the universe´s most honest profession; first they announce that they will deceive you, then they proceed to do so." (The quote is originally from the (real-world) magician Jamy Ian Swiss, BTW; he said that in one of his performances which I attended) |

For this setting, I had to adjust your character's homeworld as we have no high pop vacuum worlds in this sector. The highest population world is California with a population of 30,000,000. This is a Frontier Sector with no planets close to a billion in population.
AKIO Oshiro UPP: California Hex 1116 A883744-C HomeWorld: StarPort=A, Size=Large, Atmos=Dense, Hydro=30%, Population=30,000,000, Law=Moderate, Tech=Average Interstellar Age: 38 Terms: 5 Career: Navy Rank: Lt. Commander (Rank 3) Skills: Turret Weapons-3, Vacc Suit-2, Computer-1, Handgun-1, Jack-of-all-Trades-1, Liaison-1, Mechanical-1, Navigation-1, Grav Vehicle-0 Cash: 75000 Cr Pension: 10000 Cr/Year Benefits: High Passage, Traveller's Typical quote: "I see...you might think that but I couldn't possibly comment...ah, so..." Alternatively you could come from Hawaii: Hawaii 1519 A768645-C HomeWorld: Hawaii StarPort=A, Size=Large, Atmos=Standard, Hydro=80%, Population=1,000,000, Law=Moderate, Tech=Average Interstellar Hawaii also has a large ethnic Japanese population, it is not as populated as California, so you can pick which one, or one of the planets below if you like. Here is the California Sector, with the information below you can make a map of it if you like. I think I told you where you can find the sector World data for all the sectors. The parts beyond the frontier are little known about. The original colonists came here in a sleeper ship and were revived on New Terra, some people are still being revived from Old Earth, you could be one of those too. Or maybe Japan launched a sleeper ship of its own and it just happened to arrive in the sector. The distances between old Earth and this sector are vast. I think the best course would be to say that your character is from one of the Worlds below, but you decide. Before you ask, yes it is an analog of the USA, but I decided to rename it the Star Federation, or more formally the Stellar Federation of America, but typically its just called the Star Federation. |
Hawaii, it is based upon his Japanese roots.
|
Good choice, it is a more pleasant world than California too, wetter and lower gravity.

OK, think you can roll up the T20 stats for him eventually, and decide how much cash he has according to the rules, Neither on of you has a job at the moment. Pete is between performances at the moment. AKIO has just been discharged from the Navy, you have enough money to pay your living expenses at the moment, but eventually your going to have to find some sort of income. Both of your families are living at home struggling, there is little your parents can do for you at the moment, but employment opportunities abound, most are on the frontier, that is where the silver is mined, and in the current depressed state of the economy, the frontier acts as a sort of outlet or pressure relief valve of sorts.
Their is a mass migration proceeding from the Core Worlds to the Frontier in a sort of Gold Rush and Land Rush. Various corporations are paying for tickets out to the frontier. Their are jobs for security personel, frontiersmen, miners, mercenaries, all sorts of professions, because out their labor is scarce, while here in the core worlds there are unemployment lines, still you got plenty of money to last for a few months, AKIO has a high passage ticket from the Navy, and you might be able to purchase one yourself. Also you are part rogue, surely there must be something you character can do to get onboard a starship. |

BTW, I kinda like the idea of Japan sending him on a sleeper ship leaves lots of room for manuever in terms of motivations & character development. On one hand, he can play very traditional Japanese mindset and on the other, play the ultramodern/postmodern cyberpunkish post industrial Japan of today. |
