Planet design

2300 planetary and system design is ok, but should it be fleshed out with perhaps the DGP Worldbuilders system?

I normally turn to GURPS Space 4th edition for system and world design then convert to Traveller/2300.

That would work, I'll have to look at that.

Ditto to GURPS Space.

I mocked up some 2300 stuff ala Constantine with Astrosynthesis. There's a plug-in for GURPS Space characteristics. So you can convert everything over and get a long view of what the planet is like. It looks good and you can store the original data (actual gas composition) etc.

Sure, we could get extremely into every aspect of it but there does need to be some hand-waving. General idea of atmosphere, possible unique factors and extrapolations to weather, climate and biology/botany. Gurps Space does a great job of laying these out with suggestions for life on various planets, available resources and so on.

With 2300AD - Tools for Frontier Living, there's a lot of world detail useful to exploring, colonizing and developing planets.

The planet design still needs to be fleshed out though. I wish that there was a supplement like the old DGP world builders handbook. Also there needs to be something like the UPP for the system, quick and dirty at a glance to give you information on the world.
