Since we're discussing D&D monsters being brought to the Traveller Universe, why not bring Star Wars creatures over as well? For example, the yammosk from R.A. Salvatore's first book, which I forget the title of?

The advantage of using d20 rules is that it's much easier to convert between universes.

In favor of that Idea is that there are many SW creatures out there for anyone who has the books. They also tend to have less magical features and at least some what more ecologically based design, at least as much as I have seen.
I have found the Star Wars field guide to be useful as well.

There's the WEG creatures guide, and WoC'S Aliens supplement (though I prefer the WEG version better - better mechanic, more easily played, better writing) as well.
