Dune trailer

I can not believe it took me 'til now to see this.

The link is the youtube release of the trailer for the forthcoming Dune film:

I sat transfixed and open mouthed.

Probably be one helluva a cinematic experience.

I detect that the Lynch film was used as the basis, with an updated snarkiness of ... a young adult drama?

Did you catch the song playing in the background in the second half of the trailer? If that is actually in the movie, whoa!

Apparently the first attempt at a cinema version was going to commission Pink Floyd for the soundtrack, and this is a reference to it.

The trailer looks good.

And did I see ornithopters that actually ornitho their pters?

Someone noted that the trailer is almost shot for shot the same as the Lynch trailer.

Here's the side-by-side comparison.

new Dune movie

According to Emergency Awesome (You Tube) this movie is just the first half of the original novel.

vegas September 10th, 2020 02:22 PM

That is correct. There will be 2 movies for the book.

If the Hobbit had 3 films to be told, Dune probably should have had 3 also.

Condottiere September 10th, 2020 04:38 PM

They like franchise trilogies; Paul also is the protagonist in Messiah, and makes a cameo in Children.

Could be enough for six films.
