Well, we have been flailing away at this PbP thing for a bit now, and I have a couple of observations:
1) Because we are all later in life and can't just grab a 3-hour block on one night a week (and we're in different time zones!) the interplay is definitely different from a FtF. But, that means the actual role-playing is at a premium, it seems. Though we've had a couple of incidents, there has been less "roll-" than "role-"playing.
2) Some good threads and tips to keep in mind for your game:
2a) A character thread for posting your character's known attributes. Far-trader did this (once we got to know one another IC) and is having us just keep one post updated with everything known about our character. Since there's fewer than 10 players (I think we might have lost a few), everything will display on one page, too.
2b) A thread for policies and procedures. This is where Dan keeps our rules and such - so the players can have a heads-up on IMTU stuff, rulings on ambiguities, etc.
2c) Use the sticky function! Dan has figured out you can sticky and unsticky threads at will. So, you sticky the Character and Policies and Procedures threads, as well as the current "chapter" of play. When you move to the next chapter, simply unsticky the old one (and lock it), and sticky the brand new thread at the top.
Thank you Hunter for the Groups tool! This is wonderful Traveller goodness!
Oh, almost forgot... 3) These are some good guys with which to game! Good job, so far, guys with your characters. And, good attitudes, too!
