Deckplans came today for the Beowulf, the Xboat and scout. Did not get the expanded set, yet, as it is April and a bad time for me to make FFE purchases. My birthday is the 27th, and I have made it too widely known that what I want is on their website. Can't risk purchasing something only to be gifted it a few weeks later.
I did fine the Firefly tabletop boardgame and purchased it at Barnes and Nobles. I tried the two FNGS in my area, however neither of them had it. Of course, why would they? People interested in this particular product would go to NFGSs to pick up a copy, and so those stores would be sold out. Places like Barnes and Nobles, gaming geeks would rarely think about looking there.
Not said anything about the boardgame because of the dice. The 6 sided dice have little fireflies on them. Would not mind getting a second set.
The Beowulf has 4 deckplans now, and they are all different. The original Beowulf in Striker, GURPS, DGP version with the side hatches behind the intakes, and now this new T5 version. GURPS and DGP seem similar, will look at it closer once I get back home. I have 3 of the 4 in hard copy now. I do not have the Striker version in full. The CT stuff I have is in the long reprint book format.
For the "Jack Ryan" which will serve (now) as the baronial yatch. I want to start with the DGP version, (I like the side hatches behind the intakes, what can I say) and strip out the low births, and most of the stuff in the middle deck. Expand the engines to J2 and M2, move the crew up to the staterooms on the top deck and convert most of the second deck to cargo or something else. Something to look at.
I would like to build Castle Korsta, the baronial estate on lake Claire with a "batcave" of sorts. Essentially a hidden berth for a spaceship and work area. Not that I have any intention of fighting crime. Well, fighting crime in a batman kind of way. As planetary governor, crime should be pretty high on the list of job responsibilities.
