So, C4 is a military grade explosive, and that's not what I'm going to talk about here.

As I stated in my previous web log entry, if quantum loop gravity theory is correct in that the graviton carries the gravitational force, then, in principle, it may be possible to go faster than C if that carrier can be shunted. It would be something akin to Lionel Jeffries' character from "First Men in the Moon" with "cavorite" which blocks gravity like a window shade or curtain blocks light.

The issue is that the minute you remove the shunt to get your space craft going you reintroduce graviton interaction with not just your spacecraft, but everything within it, including your chemical propellent (if any). Which means that you may need more and more propellant to overcome that force that is dragging your spacecraft. Which means that you may not be able to go much beyond C, or you may find yourself back in the predicament of spending near infinite energy expenditure to get near and beyond C, only without the severe time dilation effects.

It's all theoretical. Quantum Loop Gravity has no hard evidence for it, but it strikes me as being the most likely explanation for gravity, and in this way offer possibilities for engineering. Not just for space travel, but for everyday things like construction. Imagine being able to levitate I-beams and concrete into place, or maybe reinforcing a structure with some kind of graviton manipulation. That kind of thing.

Anyway, that's all for gravity and C for now. Thanks.

ADDENDM; The universe -- galaxies -- are said to be accelerating away from one another, and that the likely culprit is dark energy or something manifesting from dark matter. Total BS, in my not so humble opinion. More likely there's a hyper mass surrounding the universe pulling on everything. Probably a shell, in my opinion, though it may also be collections of extra-universe (outside) collections of mass that just so happen to be pulling on everything uniformly, though I doubt it. Which might mean that the universe is reiterative not by explosion, but by some massive "pull" that tears at the "center" of the universe, which might prove to be a white whole. Pretty heady stuff. And if I see anyone publishing anything about this idea without acknowledging this web log, I'll sue you.
