My adopted family, on my adopted father's side, believed in the tenets that the founders had Jefferson pen in the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.

And by independence they didn't just mean geo-political economic independence from Great Britain as a mother state and economic benefactor, but for individuals.

In science fiction media you usually get the "truth and science" messages, along with justice where the bad guy is concerned. But usually you get a kind of interdep ...More Read More

It's not possible to go faster than C if you're quantumly entangled with the universe. Meaning that mythological graviton is enacting on your collection of subatomic particles that comprise you.

But it is possible to go faster than C if you are disassociated with the universe, meaning that as physical manifestations of this universe, as long as we are bound to it, we can't do the FTL thing.

There may be a solution. Meaning, horror of all horrors, it may be possible to go faster than lig ...More Read More

My waste line has gone down. I can see the crease beween my upper abs, though strangely enough, when I first moved up here, I could barely fit in my size 40s, yet carried the weight because I was more active.

I've cut back on my caloric intake. Feeling pretty good, but stewing like no one's business over my gaming life, professional life, and romantic life.

So, in my continued contrarian scifi enthusiast style, I deny the gray-goo theory. The Wiki extract starts with this;

Grey goo (also spelled gray goo) is a hypothetical end-of-the-world scenario involving molecular nanotechnology in which out-of-control self-replicating robots consume all biomass on Earth while building more of themselves, a scenario that has been called ecophagy ("eating the environment", more literally "eating the
The problem here is that this assumes that whatever i ...More Read More

I just got an ad for Indian tourists visiting Dubai on YouTube. I don't live in either country I may actually have relatives there, but I'm none too thrilled about it.

And activity seems to have died on the COTI once more. If I were a betting man, and I'm not, I would lay money on the idea that my net's still being tapped from overseas by my mother. I don't know WTF I have to do to get this to stop.

We'll see where my pleas to the Feds go. Again, supreme court. You can laugh, sha ...More Read More

In spite of the somewhat humorous title, this is a deadly serious matter.

When someone is angry, confrontational, or speaks to you with a lot of energy, and says something like "I'd like to see you try.", what are they telling you?

That's right. They're telling you NOT TO DO IT.

It's a dare. It's a warning. It's a threat without being a threat.

If you're from anywhere other than the US, UK, Canada, or even Ireland where English is spoken with great understanding of some universal ...More Read More

Many moons ago, there was an extremely religious Star Wars' fan out of Sweden who was part of the Dark Forces editing community. So enthralled was this individual with the StarWars' "message", that he took his coding skills to reverse engineer both the old Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2 game engines to make personal modifications.

Kind of a fun show. I hadn't realized how big the production values were for this thing, nor how much comport there was among the actors portraying the characters.

I can't really get into it like I did as a kid, but it's kind of interesting. It feels very much like a Larson production, and it does feel like a mild Star Wars ripoff with the Cylons and Vipers, but that's Hollywood for ya.

So, for a film major, I sure have done a 180 degree on film, or so it would seem.

Way back in the early 70s I saw quite a few Westerns via Sacramento TV, along with the usual stuff I've mentioned here. A couple of films were "Paint your Wagon" and "The Hallelujah Trail", both supposedly comedies. It was then that I saw films as pretty idiotic stuff. Largely because neither film was funny. Light hearted in tone, but an absolute zero on delivering laughs.

So, in retrospect, a lot of mo ...More Read More
