I am probably more than a bit of odd man out when it comes to Stephen Hawkings death. I have always viewed his as a very intelligent man when it comes to physics, and pretty much ignored his comments on other subjects. I did notice that the world did not end with his death, nor do I think that many people really are bothered by it. I do know that he is now finding out the truth that there is a God, and I suspect that he is not exactly happy with that fact.

I have often speculated that pa ...More Read More

Well, it looks like I will finally be getting my clip art business going, with a couple of good contact and one solid client. Then Marc encouraged me to get another item that I found online into shape for sale on DriveThru that would be quite suitable for Traveller and other science fiction games. Plus I need to write up plastic protection for the Ship's Locker. For that, I need to try and figure out damage and armor protection factors. I have some ideas, but it will take some tweaking. When I ask the question in my signature: "Do you have a security clearance?", I am not joking. Aside from working with Bob Ballard on PT-109, where I was recommended to him as the best person around on the combination of World War 2 weaponry and warships, I have worked on the Marine Forensic panel as the weapons, weapon effects, explosives, and explosions expert. As part of the panel, I have worked on the loss of the Lusitania and HMS Britannic in World War One, the loss of the Edmund Fitzgera ...More Read More

I have been watching a few clips from the Hobbit on YouTube, and while I am not sure about the first two films of the three, what I have seen of the Battle of the Five Armies would have driven me right up the wall in a theater. Dwarves charging on what appears to be wild boar? The battle between the Dwarves and the Elves starting full cry before the Goblins show up? Azog being around then to be killed by Thorin, and also looking more like a Troll than an Orc, along with being the size of one ...More Read More

This is one of those times when the forum gets a bit frustrating. One discussion is going on, and while I have made a couple of comments, I cannot say a lot more with respects to some of the other comments being made. They are not correct, but I cannot say why they are not correct, nor can I say why my unsupported word should be taken. That shows up periodically, all in defense issues. Anyone reading this should look again at my signature long and hard and do some thinking. Any time someth ...More Read More

Well, about 90 hearty souls made it to the church watch night service, with communion at just about midnight. I have decided that this is a good way to end one year and bring in the next. Reflecting on what has happened in the past year and considering what can be done in the new one. I am still able to get up and walk in the mornings, so I am thankful for that, but a few days without pain would be nice. However, the Lord continues to sustain me and I will not complain. I pray that the upc ...More Read More

Added another one to the ignore list. That makes an even two dozen. At this rate, I will just be seeing the moderators, who cannot be ignored. I am definitely thinking that this forum is becoming a waste of my remaining minutes on this Earth.

Tonight is one of those nights of trying to decide how much longer to stick around. There is one individual on the site who I would not give the time of day to, and hopefully, will never encounter in person. Another just manage to trigger a whole bunch of very painful memories by not bothering to think about the player behind the player characters. Yes, the game character might be able to handle the unexpected, but the actual live human being running that character might be a totally differe ...More Read More

Well, Trump has finally done what should have been done a long time ago, and announced that Jerusalem is indeed Israel's capital, and the embassy will be moved there. I imagine that all of the Israel haters in the State Department are going bonkers, especially since today it looks like Trump is acknowledging that Israel will keep the Wailing Wall in any conceivable peace settlement, assuming that you can conceive of a peace settlement. They are probably saying that Israel's existence as a sta ...More Read More

One thing about living in the Midwest is the sudden drastic weather changes. Monday the midday high was 64 degrees, on Tuesday the midday high was 33. It did remind me of my time in Anchorage though, as yesterday and today are both bright and sunny, even if cold. Then there is the wind that goes with the weather changes. Against that, having the same weather all of the time would be very boring. When my oldest brother and his wife were on Hawaii for a year, the sameness of the weather drove ...More Read More
