Well, in some areas, 1984 is rapidly approaching, with the systematic attack on any and all historical statues which do not meet the standards of the "extremely politically correct" among the near-anarchists currently claiming to be on the forefront of history. I suspect that very few have ever read Orwell, but they certainly are following his sketch for "Big Brother". I fear that when you start tearing down statues of Columbus, Washington, and Jefferson, you have crossed the bar for any sympathy from me as to what might happen to you. The conservatives are already wondering when Pelosi will demand that Mount Rushmore be blown up and replaced by something more executable to her "refined West Coast taste". Given her age, one can always hope for something internally to go drastically wrong.

Getting away with that, I am trying to get back to work on some of the projects that have been hanging fire for the past few months. One is to get a clip art book out along with a bestiary for Space: 1889 and the Cepheus Engine. Another is to try and work on more for posting to the Timerover51 Space: 1889 thread in terms of news flashes, my Alternate Universe, and a couple of short stories. The stories keep running through my head, and I really need to lasso them and get them recorded. It should be interesting, as the British and Belgians are the bad guys, while the U.S. is busy arming the Martians with all sorts of goodies.

One major factor is that the Sharp's Rifle Company is still around and making and selling a lot of rifles to the Martians. Between an improved paper cartridge breechloader with virtually no gas leakage, which the Martians like as it makes them independent of Earth's supply of metallic cartridges, customizing the length of the rifle to the taller Martians, and putting the Spencer back into production for sale on Mars, it should get interesting. Winchester is too busy selling on Earth to pay that much attention to Mars, and a steady supply of cartridges in an issue as well, while Remington has enough to do keeping up with sales on Earth as well. None of the other powers wants to sell modern firearms to Mars, so Sharp's is in good shape. I probably should include this in background and see who jumps in.

Then there is the stuff on Martian climate to add as well, as I mentioned in an earlier post. Just have to see. I also need to do some thinking about Venus, and the corrosion-resistant bronze alloy that Sharp's has developed. That and trade goods for Mars using that alloy as well, as it does have a nice golden look to it. Methinks that the Germans on Venus are going to develop a BIG dislike for Americans, as they already dislike them on Mars.

One other idea would be to modify the Cepheus Engine into something approximating Space: 1889. Definitely need to think about that.
