When the lockdown started, I told my friends that I thought that people would obey up to a point, and then they would start to rebel and say "enough is enough". I figured that would start occurring around May 1st. Some states started opening up around then, some did not. Now I think that things are starting to hit the snapping point. Businesses are starting to open in defiance of stay-at-home orders, a case in point being Tesla. If Tesla is not shut down, it will be very hard for the State of California to shut any business down. Then you have the beaches in Southern California becoming popular spots again, with the head of police in I believe Huntington Beach saying that they will not be citing any individual who is out there. Lastly, around 500 churches have notified the governor of California that they are opening as of May 31st, period. That will pose a major problem for the governor and his supporters. They have been emptying the jails for fear of the prisoners catching the Chinese Flu, Are they prepared to fill them up with church leaders and congregations who are simply exercising what they view as their 1st Amendment rights to worship as they wish? That will be interesting to see.

People are adults, and shocking though this may be to a fairly large number of politicians, are quite capable of making their own decisions. I do not think that the Governor of Michigan will be able to enforce her dictatorial directives a whole lot longer, as the people are simply going to begin to ignore her. The same will likely hold true for Illinois and Wisconsin. The governor of Illinois has the further problem of ignoring his own directives to stay at home and flying to Florida over the weekends to spend time with his wife on their Florida estate before flying back to Illinois. He is worth billions, and I guess he takes the view that his dictates do not apply to himself, but only to the paupers. The schools he may keep closed. How the students are going to be educated is another story. However, if the sports teams start playing again, all bets are off. There is no way you can claim those are essential services. (Personally, I view them as the quintessential extraneous activity, serving only to put large numbers of highly overpaid, overprivileged individuals who lack any other skill to pretend to work.)

I am working on a letter to my church, laying out the reasons why it should no longer follow the dictates of a single person who views the 1st Amendment as something extraneous to the Constitution, to be disregarded at will. The governor of New Jersey basically stated that when asked about freedom of religion in his lock down order. Obviously, I cannot post that here, but once I finish, anyone who wants a PDF copy can Private Message me.

Edit Note: I have finished the letter to my church elder board.
