Tomorrow, on Mother's Day, it will be the 35th anniversary of my making the decision to terminate life support measures for our first son. Hopefully, that will not cast a pall on getting together with my daughter and her husband to celebrate it. We will see, but the weather is not going to be helping, based on the rain mixed with snow forecast. I hate lousy weather on Mother's Day.

I guess some people could argue that after 35 years, it should not trouble me, but then, they have never been in my shoes. You do not, you cannot forget or bury in the back of your mind something like that. And I have been blessed with a near-photographic memory, which at times feels more like a curse. Father's Day is also a time of reflection for me. I do suspect that Brent and Grant would have been very similar, which might have made raising them a bit of a challenge. No one has ever said being a parent is easy.

On a different note, I have been perusing the Babylon Bee. Some of the satire could be actual headlines. Things have gotten quite strange with the Chinese Flu epidemic. One thing that does bother me is that none of the media are bothering to put this into context with some of the other epidemic that we have had throughout history. Nor are they doing any reporting on recovered cases, just the body count. Most of the major media is in New York City though, so that disaster would color their thinking. I do not have any trust in them anyone.
