I talked with my wife tonight about moving to Indiana. The governor appears to be far more rational than the overfed billionaire we have in Illinois. The state has released a nicely detailed opening plan, including acknowledging that three counties are not ready to reopen yet, with the vast majority of the can reopen. For anyone interested, you can find the plan at the state of Indiana website. It is very well thought out, and has just about everything re-opening by May 23, the three problem counties excepted. One is Lake County in Indiana, which is located adjacent to Cook County and the city of Chicago. They are opening a bit later. So far, Illinois has a second mandatory lockdown, that is on shaky legal ground, and that is about it. I will not comment more on it, except to say that it bars more than two people in a motorboat, even it they are all of the same family. Quite strange.
The Chinese Flu death toll is beginning to look a bit shaky as well, are funeral homes in New York are reporting that the Chinese Flu is being listed on just about all death certificates, regardless of the actual cause of death. I keep wondering if that holds true for deaths caused by gunshot wounds to various parts of the body, such as the head. But as the funeral directors say, it does swell New York City's body count, and therefore the city's claim on federal aid.
As more and more counties in various states declare themselves open, the feasibility of maintaining a lockdown gets smaller and smaller. People are getting tired of being told how they can act, what they can buy, where they can go, and what they can do. I am reminded of one of U. S. Grant's quotes:
Quote:
I know no method to secure the repeal of bad or obnoxious laws so effective as their stringent execution.

The more some governors hammer at people to follow the governor's dictates, the more pushback you are going to see. Unfortunately, a fair number of governors appear to be either incapable or willfully blind to seeing that.
