The mayor of New York, who at one time actually was running for the Democratic nomination for President is showing more and more his anti-Semitic leanings. I keep wondering what happens if he actually goes ahead and has several hundred Hasidic Jews arrested and tossed into jail. If that happens, I will be curious to see if the city practices its catch-and-release policy or decides to keep them locked up to punish them for disobeying the mayor. I suspect that they will stayed locked up for as long as the city can justify it. The lawsuits following such an action should keep the city's lawyers busy for years. A disclosure note: I am part Jewish from my great-grandmother, and according to one of my former students, would qualify for Israeli citizenship under the law of return. I am a conservative Christian, as you will see if you look over my posts, but I am also a strong supporter of Israel.

Governor Fat Stuff of Illinois wants a massive and expensive "contract tracing" scheme put in place before he opens the state up. Now, considering that the state is basically bankrupt, I have no idea as to where the money is coming from for this, as I doubt if he will donate any of his billions to finance it. As for me, if that does occur, I will not put any app for tracing on my phone. However, based on some comments by Google, they are already doing a fair amount of tracing as it is. Therefore, I will leave my phone at home unless I need it when going out. I leave it at home enough as it is. The thought of the state of Illinois or the City of Chicago having that data should be sufficiently terrifying for a lot of people to do the same. With the corruption in the state, the chance of that information remaining private is nil.

I also suspect that more and more people and businesses are going to start saying "enough is enough' and start going back to work. Since Governor Overstuffed second emergency declaration may not hold water or pass court muster, it is time to start opening up. As for mask wearing, no, I do not plan to wear one unless I have to enter a building where it is required, like the commissary or the Post Office.
