Aside from working on the bestiary, I keep thinking that I should get to work on some sample vehicles for the Out Rim, and give thought to posting them. As I have a fair number of planets with lots of water, some nautical vessels would make sense, probably using mainly wind power for propulsion, along with some basic steam vessels. I do have "Vinland" using steam ships for river transport, and the more advanced planets, especially the Space Viking ones, would be using nautical ships as well.

However, some land and aerial vehicles would be good to have. I have a lot of aircraft images to work with, along with some airships. As for ground vehicles, it is more a case of what type and era do I want. For military vehicles, I would need to add whatever armor rating is appropriate, along with weapons information. For the most part that should not be too hard, as I think that I will standardize on the .30 caliber/7.62mm for my basic rifle ammunition, along with the .50 caliber for the heavy machine gun, plus some data on the Soviet 14.5mm round. The .50 and 14.5mm may need dual armor penetration figures. I will have to see about that.

For Armor, I think that is going to be broken down into two categories, personal (flak jackets and etc.) and vehicle armor (based on equivalent steel plate thicknesses). I think that I will add plastic protection to the armor mix, as a lot cost substitute for light armor against small arms fire and fragments.

Edit Note: Methinks an HMS Polyphemus might be a nice one to release. Have to think about that.

SpaceBadger Says:
Wouldn't the Space Vikings likely be using triphibious grav craft? Skimmer mode for land, flyer mode for air, then either float on the water or, if pressure-tight, go submarining?
