Basically, I am putting my Ship Construction Designer's Notes for the Cepheus Engine on the forum, describing how I am coming to the conclusions that I am. I still need to determine what to do with respect to the Liquid Hydrogen requirement of the Jump Drive. As I am increasing crew sizes by about a factor of 3 at least, plus boosting the maintenance fee, and changing the crew pay, I am not sure if having the Jump Drive require 10% of the hull displacement times the Jump Number is viable any more. I need to crunch numbers to see how all of the added costs break out. Against that, I am reducing the costs of the basic hull. Given the sector layout, Jump-1 ships are not going to be very limited in where they can go, and even Jump-2 cannot go everywhere. Jump-3 or Jump-4 looks much more likely, and that means a lot more money for Jump Drives. I am going with having the Power Plant equal to the Maneuver Drive, whatever its size, rather than having it equal to the larger of Jump or Maneuver Drive. Then there will be a Ship Power Plant to supply power when grounded or in orbit, basically a Model A running on deuterium, with a ton of heavy water included in the plant displacement.

The same holds true for the Hyperdrive ships. They are slower, so the effective crew cost is going to be greater, but they are not going to need an enormous amount of fuel to go anywhere. I do need to determine the amount of fuel the Power Plant is going to need to run the Maneuver Drive.

Well, it seems to me with my small knowledge of the worlds to sound right, I mean they both tend to have bigger ships than most of the TUs out there, mine included. Hope you're having fun.
