It was an interesting day at the church. Four teens showed up, all of whom I know and have been mentoring. We ended up playing Russian Rails, the rail-building game for the USSR/Russia. The USSR disintegrates during the game, which makes things a bit more complicated. We also could have used another packet of money, but that is a minor point. There are some wrinkles in that game that are not in any of the other games, which make it a bit more challenging. I am not sure if five players are too many for the game, but I got that feeling. That is also the first game I have seen where one of the cargos is tanks, as in military tanks. We talked about maybe playing Iron Dragon if I can find where I put my copy. This is getting very irritating, but I will just have to keep looking.
I have no idea what we will be playing later today with my daughter, her husband, and father-in-law, but I suspect that it will be fun. We have heathy snacks set up, and I think enough soda, in terms of Diet Mountain Dew. I think that I may make a pot of coffee as well. Given that my daughter also drinks coffee, I might end up making more than one pot.
Than I have to get back to the sector and also the Space: 1889 campaign. I have decided that I am not going to make too many changes in the setting, but I am going to include the long Martian seasons, and a bit less problems of heat. The Brits have a totally different view of heat than we in the U.S. have. Anything much over 85 is intolerable to them, while that is a normal summer day here. I am going to allow the American player-characters a bit more tolerance of heat. It will depend on where we actually go on Mars with the campaign. I will have to start up the New Flashes again as well. Lots to do and keep occupied.
