I thought I would start using this to share my major ideas about Traveller, post about gaming experiences, and provide links to web pages I like. I have two daughters, Harriet (12) and Charlotte (10) who I game with, along with 2 friends: Duncan who is my age and Mark who is their age. Other players their age may be added as well. I am finding it hard to access my copy of the T5 core rules because I can't get it out of Harriet's hands at the moment who is [i]fascinated[/i] with it.

I read "In Search of Longer Legs" more closely for detail about Natoko. It is a world where Tukera has a base for ship maintenance, there's a naval base and nothing else. The entire economy is based on one megacorporation's presence along with the Imperial Navy. Based on my mapping, Tukera simply picked a spot for a settlement in the Twilight Zone that was convenient for setting up ship maintenance and general living, and now there are some settled rural districts nearby.

Natoko's Economic Extension is (510-1). That is, Resources=5, but one of these is explained by the presence of the GG.

This leaves 4 Resource Hexes to be placed during World Mapping. What came out was that they are all buried in the Frozen side or the Baked side of the world (using random placement).

This gives us a nice justification for the negative economic efficiency: this is a world where resources are coming in from the outside and none of the local resources (whatever I decide they might be) are being exploited. This situation could change if the settlement of the world expands; a resources boom as the resources are discovered and exploited could well be the basis for this.

The Labour index of 1 reflects the actually available labour of less than 100 people. The chapter "In search of longer legs" suggests that the local starport is clogged up for weeks; with a possible starport staff of only 50, it would only take half a dozen ships to make this the case.

The scene is set for the next session; I just need to make sure I have the 2 NPCs ready from the text (just using the 3-line method) and perhaps 1 or 2 more minor players.

It's funny, isn't it, how we barrack for our planets? Wanting the dice to fall a certain way? But in this case, yeah, it all fell into place. Now thinking about BeastMaker in relation to Natoko. Baked / Frozen animals ... ?

Coolness. Too bad about the Resources placement, but as you said, it does explain the low RU.
