So, the other day Win10 Edge finally put up some more news' options. Apparently all of the female oriented tabs were checked; news about "the Royals", "life style", "parenting and childhood", health and home-economics kind of stuff

You know I distinctly REMEMBER checking things like World News or US News, finance, politics, and I think sports. And the other stuff I was able to "uncheck" was (were?) never offered as options for news feeds.

I have nothing against Prince Harry or Megh ...More Read More

Star Trek III, the Search for Spock. Opening day. I see it after school with a fellow Trekkie. Some time later FASA puts out their miniatures for their ST RPG, and another friend gets the Excelsior mini from the movie. My fellow Trekkie looks at the secondary hull, sees the bulb form factor, points to it, and says "that must be the trans warp drive" *face palm*.

Okay, we were high school students, and HS age types are prone to making a lot of assumptions, but even to the non Trek fan ...More Read More

Star Trek III The Search for Spock is not an apology to Trek fans, but more of a release valve for fans who were still sore about the powers that were killing off a favorite character for the sake of drama. Of course the down shot is that they killed off the ship and Kirk's rediscovered son in the next film.

I'm sorry David was killed in ST III, and I'm even sorrier that the actor who played him passed away some time ago. Destroying the Enterprise was, in my opinion, designed to give the T ...More Read More

C squared

Okay, not really, just a little pun. Yesterday Jim Baggot lectured at the Royal Institute, which I believe is a known venue for Christmas Science talks (Sagan lectured there during his hay day), and proposed Einstein's relativity equations as a field theory.

Cutting to the chase time becomes something that's manifested with loop quantum gravity when you do away gluons or quark particles. Then all your left with are loops or knots of "existence". Conglomerating them toget ...More Read More

I recently viewed the old Logan's Run TV series, based off of the feature film of the same name. It hasn't aged all that in terms of its Special Effects, and some of the costumes are a bit low budget, but the stories are solid enough. Heh, in one episode they mimic a light saber battle, and the "heavy" in the scene is the head security Martian from "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" I knew I recognized him from somewhere.

But, to the point, most of the cast is predominantly white, th ...More Read More

I'm told miss Doris Day passed away recently. I was not a big fan of hers, but she did come across as a kind of mainstay icon of white America. Idealized in many ways for her virginesque rolls in sex comedies that had everything but sex, just romantic tension.

I didn't like her singing, I thought most of the rolls she was in were two cards shy of being just vapid, and where I admire anyone who can express themselves with talent, I just couldn't get into her nor her films, though I saw quite ...More Read More

The mother of all complaints fired off today to the feds. Posting and bragging about it will probably make things go wrong or get me into trouble somehow, as has so often in the past, but it's who I am, and I expect big things from this.

I'm way just too way angry to write. Everytime I try to relax on a game server, some POS affiliated with the family trolls my game, so I'm through doing sh!t for anyone save for current obligations.

Eh, an okay series with a lot of unnecessary "cinema verite" using shaky cam and otherwise faux documentary hand held shot crap. The very stuff I truly hate about today's media. And, in fact, the reason I turned off my TV, discontinued cable, and otherwise just tuned out of mass media altogether.

Ironically enough there's quite a few Star Trek references in it, more thematic and occasionally mentioned audibly, but otherwise they're there. Even so, given the stylings of the presentation I ...More Read More
