In the mid 90s online gaming for the masses was in its infancy, and only those with access to tech could do it. Racial slurs and sexist remarks weren't unheard of, but there was a kind of self regulatory comport.

In the late 90s after Dark Forces 2 Jedi Knight hit Microsoft's Internet Gaming Zone, there were all kinds of pre-teen Star Wars fans uttering all kinds of foul statements. But, the MS Zone people were able to police it, and since Jedi Knight as an FPS game, the racial slurs were ...More Read More

I'm still being harassed after 11 years. On game servers I'm getting a lot of racial slurs uttered with a king of baiting intent, along with a lot of sexual references.

They have absolutely nothing to do with me, but it is baiting. I was even baited in another manner on another website dedicated to cinematography.

2005, I sought treatment for simple depression after losing my temper, and thought it would be over at the end of the semester of that same year, or at the very most at the ...More Read More

I have filed complaints with the State of California numerous times, and have called the police several times over, as well as contacting legal counsel to free up my net access, but to no avail.

I'm just sorry friends, alleged family, acquaintances have been called into this effort.

Gone are nearly all of the old users of this board, and the only other blog being posted is by someone in Private Security? Doesn't post about Traveller at all, but about guarding a miss nude contest?

Warning; mindless ramblings.

So, as I've mentioned elsewhere, in spite of having a relatively high intelligence quotient (which I question) it became apparent to me that a career as an aerospace engineer or research scientist probably was not in the cards, unless I wanted to dedicate my sole being to that pursuit to the exclusion of all else.

So I went into the arts with the intent of bringing my gaming experience to the big or small screen (in some capacity). But games, upon reflectio ...More Read More

I should probably be posting this at Starfleetgames.com, because this is where I brought up this device ... and maybe here in the Off Topic area, but just to share with anyone here who is not a SciShow afficionado, nor a James Burke enthusiast, TV predates the CRT (cathode ray tube). James Burke talked about it briefly in one of his series, but for the life of me I couldn't find the clip.

Said TV used a charged spinning disk set up vertically, and a small picture frame like image reader wou ...More Read More

Summer 1975, Sacramento State, Bob Wilkins is at the podium of a Star Trek convention attended mostly by college age types, but also a lot of veteran scifi fans. In his usual light nonchalant tone with a hint of monotone in his cadence (watch one of the many YouTube Creature Feature clips to get what I'm talking about) Wilkins announces that there's a Space 1999 convention "next door" (or maybe he said Arden Fair).

The theatre erupts with a chorus of "boos!". Wilkins then caps off his anno ...More Read More

Way back in 1983 or 1984 I saw a pirated VHS version of the feature film "Macross; Do You Remember Love" based off of the hit Japanese anime series "Superdimensional Fortress Macross".

I was very much impressed with the production values of the feature film, but when I was shown the original TV anime, I cringed. It looked really awful, and this comment came from a guy who spent many hours before and after grammar school watching Speed Racer.

Speed Racer had race cars, it had fun fights, ...More Read More

I have a pretty high criteria for media. My mother raised me by taking me to the War Memorial Opera house, Davies Symphony Hall, the Golden Gate and Orpheum theatres, and a few other venues when I was a young lad and up through high school.

As a result I have a pretty high bar when it comes to drama as a whole. "But, Mister Blue Ghost, aren't you just a Star Trek snob?" Well, yeah, but not because I'm blinded by my love for the show, because it has many a fault, but because it passes must ...More Read More
