In Moot Member Blogs I can write again Entry Tools Rate This Entry

Things are looking up.

In spite of my family background, I'm going to die a starving artist. But you know what? I don't care. Writing good cool Traveller scifi fiction and shooting indy film/video on my own is what life is all about.

This morning I worked on a piece that ... it felt really good. The IISS is probably the one fictional organization I'd love to join ... above and beyond Star Fleet, if you can believe that.

Star Wars has its spiritual and very cool anti-fascist and a ...More Read More

So, reading my stuff entry it sounded like an old man rambling. And I guess that's what it was because that's kind of what I am not, a rambling old man.

To clarify, I'm fairly Travellered out. I think can write for the game via open channels without getting to attached or hung up on anything.

I brought up the visual media aspect because for much of my life I had notions that I would translate this game, and some of my experiences, to the screen. As per previous blog entries I was inten ...More Read More

I dumped a lot of time and money into Traveller, and I don't regret it. I never did become a police officer, and I never had any real aspiration to do so, much less aspire for political office (in spite of my "real father's" background). And in spite of a lot of steering by outside influences I'm not interested in government on any level. That may sound like a non-sequitur, but I've had a lot of what I would call "Tests" tossed in my direction to see if I have any interest in the field.

So, as per my Star Finder snippit, I think the science fiction genre has been overly protected by various media types for fear that someone who has socially negative views might make a scifi film with maybe some kind of racist or otherwise socially unacceptable message.

Eh, that and there's some police tactics used in some of the plots which probably run the risk of exposure.

Me, I'm of the opinion that you can't really get people to do anything by way of a media message that isn't in the ...More Read More

Gripes about can openers.

For forty plus years I and the parental units had been using the same old fashioned stainless steel can openers. I still have them with the rest of the utensils somewhere in storage.

I haven't unpacked all my things because the house isn't done. So I bought a Good Grip can opener, and it started to get some canned food gunk on it, so I washed it off. It stopped working.

I then bought another one from Bed Bath and Beyond, and without cleaning it, the thi ...More Read More

I've been posting some pretty negative reviews on contemporary movies ... and I really don't want to post anything bad about this movie. I really don't. And I guess I won't.

But it's not a deep film. It's got one major story twist, and that's it. Once that's out of the way, then the rest is pretty predictable. Like I wrote over on the SJGames forum it feels like the guy who wrote the thing either wrote for or read a lot of graphic novels. It has that kind of low level of sophistication ...More Read More

So, as per my other blog I've concluded that someone doesn't want me to write, and more specifically write for games, probably this game nor any other game.

Whoever this third party is, said party needs to mind their own business. Writing and gaming is the very essence of who I am.

So, I bought Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, and boy is it bad.

The graphics look absolutely gorgeous, but the gameplay is really poor. You can take many hits, even on the hardest difficulties, heal within a few seconds, and if you miss a target then you're simply not paying attention to the game, it's that easy.

I really wasted my money on this thing ... I'm not going to go into detail. NOVALOGIC, CSGO, Insurgency, and even America's Army have this thing beat hands down.

The Spinward Marches
District 268
The Bowman Field or “Bowman” (hex 1132)

SitRep; suicide or murder? Psychiatry or law enforcement? The local marshal’s office is stymied (as well as understaffed, under-funded, and in the pocket of many local interests) of what to do. So it’s business as usual. Miners, a good lot of them are on the outs with the law in other systems, are looking for a second chance or a way to ...More Read More
