I've had it with "mother" f---ing RUSSIA.

Apparently the commies were the cause of the unrest in my father's home land, and apparently they tried to screw with me hoping I would turn out to be a POS "alpha" male with all kinds of nasty criminal habits.

Well, too bad for them. Putin and Pozner can go straight to hell.

Thanks to the US Navy and US Army I got my gray matter back in order, although there is one particular individual (who shall remain nameless) who has some explaining to ...More Read More

My mother, my biological mother, does not understand science fiction as a whole. She did not, and presumably now, does not understand gaming. I've complained about her in this log in previous entries. This one will be no different.

Things I never got to do in games because of her ignorance, and presumably that of my immediate and extended family;

1) No SFB Campaign. I created rules for operational deployment for a "Space Action Group" for Star Fleet Battles, but because I was being sc ...More Read More

So, this is for my parents and family, and that is I would like to pose this question to all the Citizens of the Imperium, and just gamers in general, old school and young alike:

Have you ever gotten any personal values from any popular media? Notably, have you ever gotten any sense of right or wrong from a television show?

Have you ever gotten any personal values from a novel, a radio program, a comic book, a piece of music or poetry? Has media, in any form ever given you a sense of

Repetition of Rant, but with some realizations

A thought occurred to me as I was thinking about why Star Trek the Next Generation was so … poorly written, or just outright bad. It’s more than the fact that original Star Trek was an adventure and police show, and more than Star Trek the Next Generation being a “family psychology” show dressed up as science fiction. But if you look at the bad stories for TNG, you’ll note that the psychological phenomenon presented are things that people tend ...More Read More

Dungeons and Dragons, as I was reminded by timerover51, are designed as power trips for pre-teens and older.

I don't like them for all of the afore mentioned reasons in my Fantasy entries' i.e. a mish mash of time periods and technologies from classical era to the renaissance.

I never saw the D&D feature film, but it looked like garbage. And where I didn't see it, I did see that dim witted cartoon on Saturday mornings. If you liked it, then I'm sorry for trashing it.

To me Boorman' ...More Read More

In short you couldn't produce TV or film without some socially positive message, or going after some psychology for the masses.

My thought is that it would have been cool to have shown mainstream America (and whoever else) what you and I did as gamers during our high school and pre-teen years in the late 70s and throughout the 80s as we hit college, university or just went into business. Wow them with an OGRE movie or TV show. Wow them with a Car Wars' movie. Wow them with a Traveller T ...More Read More

I’m going to try and explain my thoughts and feelings on US media, and western media as a whole, and why I fell out of love with film, TV and just visual media as a whole. I still want to turn all the games you and I played during the late 70s, 80s and even 90s into films or visual media that can be enjoyed by all, but that seems unlikely at this point in time.

Original Star Trek, as I’ve commented on YouTube and on Amazon in my reviews, at its heart, is a police and hospital show. The gal ...More Read More

Tolkien and Wagner drank from the same public well, which is a very different thing than stealing one thing from another.

In fact, Tolkien, as a scholar of Norse and Anglo-Saxon cultures (and who could read and write in both languages), drew from deeper material than Wagner did; so if anything, his story is a fuller and more authentic interpretation of the ancient Germanic legends than Wagner's version.

So, way back in 2005 there was an individual with the last name of Carroll who was part of my then gaming group. He was private security for either Fed Ex or DHL or some express deliver service.

Based on the numerous complaints I filed with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, notably the BBS and board of Psychology, the few times that I tried to file complaints with the board that overseas private security (guards and companies) either did not respo0nd to my phone calls, or I was ...More Read More

I want to thank everyone who reads my nonsense. Truly, it's kind of fun to look back and see what threads garnish the most attention.

Reminiscing here about the 80s and what a great time it was to be alive, about the great discovery of war gaming and role playing, and just the sheer explosion of games of all genres back then, has been really terrific. Going back and reading what I've put down … it almost feels like another golden age of gaming.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that's tr ...More Read More
