So, I'm watching my old DVDs about "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene, and listening about M-theory, superstrings and a lot of other stuff that I accept as mathematically interesting, but I personally question because of a lack of experimental evidence.

There may be things, creatures and what not living in parallel universes, but I'm not holding my breath. Theorizing about things is fun, and when you have the math to back it up it seems like you're onto something. But I can't help but t ...More Read More

This man expresses my thoughts on the old Drake Equation;

I remember in middle school drawing a facsimilie of Carl Sagan's depiction of the Drake Equation, and thinking to myself that I could unlock the secrets of "The COSMOS" and hence point to where and why life was on what other planets.

I was a kid.

But as I grew older I still clung onto the Drake Equation because Sagan's explanation of it in his TV series seemed to make sense to my young imp ...More Read More

I played both Mega Traveller computer games when I was in college, and thought them an interesting diversion. I never did finish the second one. I couldn't get into the ancient site for some reason. Some years later when I got net access (92? I can't remember), I scoured the fledgling net for some one who knew something, and got a text walk through. And even then I still couldn't finish the thing.

I liked the first game because it didn't have some of the crazy graphics that were ...More Read More

In 1996 and 1997 I attended the following event;

And in 1998 I was unable to get tickets, could not find out if the competition was happening or not, and received a series of paper letters from the organizer of the event (an ILM employee) and his backers, and I think the judge involved in the litigation between the money people and the guy who conceived the event. How tiresome I didn't want to hear about back door shenanigans.

Anyway, the result i ...More Read More

I can't believe that unpaid Federal Employees are, quite literally, weathering this arctic blast. I hate to sound like I'm bragging, because I'm not, but just the other day I was driving through San Francisco and over the Golden Gate Bridge with the windows rolled down, and my arm resting on the door.

I've been in awful winters the likes of which is currently going on, and I don't miss them for an instant. And where I've been snowed in a few times, having had to turn back because my toes ...More Read More

Remember this?

Again, not very Traveller related, but after the Wide World of Disney or whatever else was on Sunday evenings, this very cool intro would come on, and everytime I saw it I would think "wow, what a cool intro that is I wonder if there's any space ships and laser gun episodes in this thing?"

The parental unit watched this show and others religiously. No joke, she never missed an episode of this, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, the Rockford Files, Ban ...More Read More

Man, I love chocolate milk. Cookies and milk are another favorite, but, like my doctor told me, I can't eat like a teenager anymore. More's the pity. I've had some real good times with chocolate milk, milk shakes, and other associated beverages. Oh man is that stuff good.

What does this have to do with Traveller? Not a gerat deal, to be honest. I think I got some choc-milk stains on some character sheets on my old desk back in the day. And some chocolate stains on other things ... sc ...More Read More

So, I'm watching Alan Alda's interpersonal opus about three couples going through the four seasons throughout the year, and I'm reminded of all the things I hate about going out as a couple with other couples. The petty rivalries, the petty lusts after the other guy's young wife, the paranoia and annoyance of hearing your friend or wife say the same thing for the thousandth time. Splitting a bill for a dinner bragging about your career and accomplishments. I'm reminded of the time I sat i ...More Read More

So, I don't hate old American staples like the Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein, the Creatures from the Black Lagoon, and I guess the generic ghost or two. But when those films, mostly black and white, hit the screen I wasn't even born yet. And when their colorized remakes hit the screen, I was too young to not to be scared by American mythos based on European folklore staples.

But I remember as a kid an adult asking me what monster frightened me most. I sensibly answered King Ghidorah. ...More Read More

So, I go back over my journal history and smile when I see an increased number of views. I hope my aimless prattle has entertained some, and so it would appear.

I'm going to try and get more Traveller focused in future web log entries. But thanks! It's cool to see people reading my junk.
