After looking at the thread comments, I definitely will not discuss computers again. However, Makers do not seem to need computers for some reason. Oh well, I will not worry more about it, as I do have a dim view of the Maker idea. The best Maker I know walks about on two legs, and actually builds the tools needed for a Maker. Sort of like the most dangerous weapon known is the human brain.

I must admit that I am wondering how much of a firestorm will I touch off when I have no personal ...More Read More

Note to self: Do Not, repeat Do Not, discuss computers in the forum. The changes I have planned for the modified Cepheus Engine Rules for the Piper-Norton Out Rim Sector will simply be made with no announcements.

I will have to decide how much to post here on the Out Rim Sector. Those posts appear to get the most attention, but it is worth while tipping my hand. Put on front burner to simmer for a day or so.

Definitely going to be chilly the next couple of days. One job will be to mak ...More Read More

It appears that computer development has ended, and the return of large, bulky, and expensive computers is imminent. That is how they will look 5000 years from now.

On the other hand, I can see 50 years from now a computer the size of a cell phone, that projects on a flat surface an image of a keyboard, and by monitoring what keys you appear to press, acts as if were a real keyboard in repeating your key strokes. At the same time, a thin film screen unfolds from the cell phone and locks in ...More Read More

One thing about being a medical oddity is that I have a lot fewer problems with cold than most people. While out clearly my driveway of snow today, temperature 28 Degrees above zero, 19 above windchill, I had on a pair of light cloth slip-ons and a pair of light work gloves. By the time I was done, about an hour later, my feet were getting hot even though the shoes were pretty wet, and my hands were getting hot even though the gloves were a bit wet. By the time I finish shoveling the side wa ...More Read More

Interesting, a moderator was reading, or at least, checking my blog at the unseemly hour of 4:08 AM this morning. Must have a very bad case of insomnia. Perhaps a link to a quiet rendition of Clare de Lune or Brahm's Lullaby would be in order, along with a nice glass of warm milk. For me, coffee works much better than warm milk, but then I have been drinking coffee since my mother was spiking my baby bottle with it.

Well, since other people are at least looking at the blog, if not comment ...More Read More

I never did get to read the books that I loaded on the iPad, or watch the first episode of "The Lone Ranger" that I loaded as well. I was just in too much pain for most of the two flights to do anything but fight the pain. Painkillers helped a little, as did an ice pack, but still no fun flying. I did read a few paragraphs in T. E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom while sitting in Phoenix waiting to Southwest to get us a plane. We departed an hour late, and by the time my wife had the car ...More Read More

I finally figured out how to load books onto an iPad, so I will have something a bit easier to read while flying home tomorrow. This will be our last trip to the Silicon Valley area. Flying is getting more and more difficult for me, with the continued narrowing of the seats, and shrinking of leg space. At times, some regulation is not a bad idea, and airline seating would be a good area to address.

I am not sure if after Sunday night I will delete the blog or just stop posting. I presume ...More Read More

Still chugging along here, and thinking that I need to out-live most if not all of my male ancestors by a few years. Given my health, that is not a sure thing at all, besides living that many more years with a fair amount of pain. The pain is wearing me out after approaching 43 years.

Still no feedback from anyone over whether I should continue the blog. Sunday night is approaching.

I have begun writing up two of the sub-sectors of the Piper-Norton Out Rim Sector, the Sword and the Sar ...More Read More

Last night, I made a post just before going to bed, actually I fell asleep with the computer on right after I finished the post, then woke up cold at about 3:50 AM because I was a bit cold. The temperature did drop to 4 Degree Fahrenheit this morning, that is a minus 16 Celsius. and is now 9, so a minus 13 Celsius.

I finished the post at 1:50 AM my time, and it was checked at !:54 AM my time, based on the Who Viewed this Post menu. I did check to see if any changes had been made in reputat ...More Read More
