More and More and MORE Traveller Play!

If you've read earlier entries in this Blog, you might have noticed a subtle (I hope) note of complaint that no matter how many online Traveller games I joined, it seemed that one or more were always on hiatus, and the others moving extremely slowly. I appreciate the games that I am in, including SBRD in which I am the GM, but with my condition[1], there are many days and nights that I am awake with nothing to do in any of my games. As my eyesight gets wor ...More Read More

Proposed Play-by-Post Combat Action System

I have had this rattling around in my head for a long time, but especially lately as it appears that we should be getting into some combat soon in SBRD. This system is expressly designed for Play-by-Post; I don't know if I would use it in tabletop gaming are not, although maybe worth a try if it works as intended in PbP.

I wasn't happy with how the bit of combat played out toward the end of SBRD Chapter 01 on Devonia; it felt like I was directing ...More Read More

New Games and Old

Wow, just got into a new Traveller PbP over on Obsidian Portal, and am having some fun! I'm afraid I stunned them at first with the amount of material that I wrote and questions asked over a sleepless night and day and night, but tonight the other players have been coming out of the woodwork and it appears that my PC is about to meet up with the rest of the crew of the Free Trader (A3) Maverick.

So now I need to learn yet another Traveller system: Mongoose Traveller is w ...More Read More

Trying out new Firefly RPG with Chris

Bought the new Firefly RPG from Margaret Weis Productions after reading Aramis's favorable review; only $19.95 as a PDF from DriveThru.

I spent a bit of time yesterday and the day before reading the book on my laptop, and today decided that I was ready to give it a try. When Chris (ChaosBennett on CotI) got home this evening we decided to just have a quick off-the-cuff run to try out the mechanics. One positive effect of the single season of the Firef ...More Read More

A Fun Bit of Pathfinder Gaming

Had some very enjoyable impromptu gaming tonight with three of my boys, Jesse, Chris, and Michael. They wanted to play some Pathfinder, but I was in no condition to GM (pain meds ) so Michael was doing it. We talked a bit about whether to pick up one of our old games, but couldn't find the old character sheets, so quickly whipped up some rather vanilla fighters out on a mission for their liege-lords to expand the County's holdings into some unclaimed wild la ...More Read More

Juggling Four Traveller Games, Considering More

Still have four Traveller games sorta going, at varying degrees of activity. Let's review and see what, if anything, I need to be doing to move these along:

SBRD PbP: Frontier Trader Fortunate Son adventures in Reavers' Deep toward the end of the Long Night: 3731 AD (GM: Me: SpaceBadger).

PCs are currently split into three groups:
Victor is alone inside the smugglers' port Nexus-Under, waiting for the arrival of the Rescue Team. I gave h

Quick Trip to Oklahoma

Just got back... well, actually is was about 2am yesterday, but we've been busy the whole time so... Purpose of the trip was to be there for one of our sons, Cody Moon, graduating from AIT at Fort Sill. But my wife had some places she wanted to see on the way, and my Dad's family was from that corner of Oklahoma, so we added a few sidetrips.

So my wife and youngest daughter and I packed up and left Rolla at 4:30am Monday so that we could get to OKC by 11-ish to visi ...More Read More

I Can Run!

I just discovered today that I can run. I'm pretty sure I have not run at all in over a year, since I started a medication (Lyrica) that makes it difficult for me to walk. I mostly shuffle along like someone very elderly (I am only 51), not lifting my feet much, taking very short steps. My neurologist explained it as the medication slowing the nerve signals between my brain and my legs/feet.

I can force something almost like a normal walk for about a minute at a time, but that' ...More Read More
